Coaches are getting creative with the recruiting dead period finally ending
There's a lot of pent up recruiting energy set to be released after Memorial Day

"I think June is the biggest month in the history of recruiting." said CBS Sports football analyst Ross Tucker, host of the "Ross Tucker Football Podcast". "It's like they're fitting 10 months of recruiting into one month."

"As soon as [the dead period] expires, there will be pandemonium," Florida coach Dan Mullen said. "It will be waves upon waves upon waves upon waves of kids coming to visit."

Throw in the transfer portal and the new one-time transfer rule, and you get the likes of Arkansas State. New coach Butch Jones said he could have approximately 52 new players on the roster when June 1 rolls around -- with the possibility of more being added.

"It's going to be the ability to adapt to everything," Jones said "It's going to be a whirlwind."

A-State's HC is promising their fan base 2022 is going to be a special class, and their first commit is a good one, so looking forward to seeing how it unfolds.

In the here and now that 52+ A-State's new HC Butch Jones is bringing in for this season does include a lot of transfers or bounce backs from other FBS programs.

Thurman Geathers -DE (Louisville)
Te'Vailance Hunt-WR (TCU)
James Blackman-QB (FSU)
AJ Acock- QB (LSU)
Allen Walters- QB (Miss St)
Akeem Hayes- WR (Kentucky)
Jack Combs- WR (Iowa)
Johnnie Lang- RB (Iowa State)
Nick Lewis- OL (Kentucky)
John Mincey- DL (Tenn)
Kivon Bennett- DL (Tenn)
Tim Hardiman- DL (Navy)
Charles Willekes- DL (Mich St)
Quay Mays- DL (West Virginia)
Scooby Carter- CB (Alabama)
Khyheem Waleed-WR (Boise)

When healthy the 2020 team was pretty good (especially on offense which returns almost everyone) and most players on their roster have chosen to return, so the additions shown above ( who have an Average 247 Player Rating of .8558) , along with the other newbies( not a bad group themselves, with a Average 247 Player Rating of .8283) could bode well for a return to a winning season in 2021, even though they have a tough schedule.
