The question now is what are people going to do with this information?

Well, if they had any sense, they'd stop giving their DNA away for free to companies like 23AndMe and AncestryDNA. That DNA isn't going to stay "private" forever.

It isn't private now. They sell your information already.

I never understood why people need to know this stuff anyway.

I mean it's not like people are gonna treat me any different if they find out I'm 10% Irish.

Well, if you have 1/1000th drop of, say, Indian blood, then you can get all kinds of perks.

In my home town, there is an Indian Reservation that does in fact give their people all kinds of perks. Unfortunately, you need to be at least 1/16th Native American.

No wonder you people are so miserable all the time. What a depressingly terrible perception of reality.

Eric, wouldn’t it be better that your name be written in the book of life than to try to predict the last days? Jesus says in Matthew 24:36 no one knows the hour of his return not even he himself. Only the Father knows.

Now, you could believe that the internet is a sign. It is said in Revelation that once the two witnesses had been killed every nation will gaze at their dead bodies laying in the streets for three and a half days.

The only way I can see everyone looking at their dead bodies is the internet. My two cents

Well we can chew gum and walk at the same time. Its not a matter of choosing one over the other.

The idea that I can't share the gospel or live as a Christian just because I made a post on the last days is well...asinine. That is just a hyper defensive reaction that some people jump to if you even remotely mention the Bible and end times signs.

Nor are you picking a day just by pointing out signs of the last days. That is another very common defensive reaction people just toss out when the person did not mentioned anything about picking a day or hour or anything of the sort. You literately cannot say a single thing about end times sings without someone just blurting out "day and hour" even though the context literally had nothing to do with picking a day and hour.

Jesus very specifically taught that Christians should pay close attention to the signs of the times, and He repeated rebuked the Jews for being purposefully ignorant of the signs of the times. Which is very ironic because many believers today are choosing to be purposeful ignorant of the signs of the times and often get very defensive and try to shut down or guilt trip/shame anyone who mentions it at all. That is literally the complete opposite of Jesus said to do.

Its bad anyway just to purposefully be blind and ignorant of the signs of the times, it far worse to attack or try to shut others down if they ever even mention it which is what happens in most cases today. I think there are a lot of believers out there who need to stop and consider that.

I fully agree that the internet and cell phone age is one of the most import signs of the times, the Bible was very specific that nearly everyone in the word would see specific events in live time at at once. That was totally impossible for all of human history until now. There are actually several similar examples of that that were never possible until very recent times. As well as the obvious lurch towards globalism that will fail miserably in the end.

For those who read their Bible, things like this are a sure sign we are at the end and this is likely the final generation before Christ returns.

Non believers will scoff and mock that, but all they do is fulfill scripture without even realizing it.

“In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow after their own ungodly desires.” These are the ones who cause divisions, who are worldly and devoid of the Spirit.." Jude 1:18-19

‘they’ have pined that rhetoric since language was transferred to papyrus b/c hey-zeus was ‘slaughtered’…

Just to play the devil’s advocate here, but people like Jim Jones and others have given the general public a bad taste in their mouths when folks start talking the end of times. TBH as America drifts further away from Christianity it’s end of time is far more likely than the return of Christ at present. Not disagreeing with your premise.

Sometimes we as Christians can come off to abrasive with delivering the message. I’m talking to myself as well. Mild approach is what is intended as written in the NT. Remember in today’s times most Americans have never read or studied the Bible so they are defensive when it clashes with what they are being taught by Social Media and an over reaching government. You wouldn’t believe some of stuff people have told me is the Bible to fit their narrative.

Not too be too simplistic about it. But, the OT existed long before Jesus. It is a chronological history of the Jews to the beginning of mankind. They were the chosen ones by God before they fell out of his favor. It was written that this would occur and Jesus came into being to fulfill prophesy. So, that men would no longer be bound by the old Mosaic law which btw would be impossible for anyone to be perfect although Pharisees thought they fit the bill. I believe one biblical scholar found over 500 verses in the OT that foretold of Jesus coming!

If your point was that Jesus was was not the start point of humanity you are correct. He was just the start point where all are welcome not just Jews. But, most are unwilling to following his teachings to attain salvation.
And, this where secular society and biblical teachings collide head on. Most want to think and feel like they are on moral high ground when only the Bible sets forth these principles. Some say slippery slope or quicksand for those who follow political dogma.

False prophets have been around for thousands of years, that is nothing new and its certainly nothing unique to our time.

The hard truth here is that Jesus Himself gave some long teachings on signs of the times and warned us repeatedly not to be ignorant of the signs of the times and to watch for His return. There is no situation on earth where He said we should ignore those things, in fact the more evil a society is the more we should be reminding them of what is coming and how to find salvation through Jesus and the Gospel.

In fact a lot of people in modern times come to salvation because they too can see where the world is heading through globalism and one world government and all the things we see taking place today. A lot of people seek out what the Bible said about the last days and that gives them faith and leads them directly to Christ and the gospel.

I cant think of anything more unbibical and more opposed to what Jesus said and the Bible taught than to suggest it wrong to ever mention these things. We live in a time and age where a lot of people find salvation in Christ through seeing the signs of the times and studying what the Bible told us would come to pass at the end. Its an incredibly powerful witness and doorway to the gospel and a lot of people are coming to faith because of it.

People sense the growing evil, the coming global control control, the mark, big brothers ability to track and control you through modern technology and the internet and all the things that go along with that. All the things the Bible warns us about at the end that sounded like magic and fantasy for 2000 years is suddenly a reality of our world today.

My approach with the comment you quoted was mild, its was not abrasive at all. I think you are just personally uncomfortable with this subject, but you shouldn't be.

People were far more offended in the early church and Jesus' day to the gospel than they are today. Remember they were often stoned, crucified or burned alive for sharing the gospel and scripture, but that never stopped them. Knowing that context, it would be very silly for us to avoid it because someone may be "offended" in 2021. Its one thing to be trying to offend someone, its another to just share scripture or be a witness and they get offended by it.

Actually more people are reading and studying the Bible today that at any point in human history. They may not have a sound grasp of biblical doctrines yet, but they are seeking it out more than ever before. I talk to and witness to people on a daily basis who are not even saved but reading their Bible, reading Revelation in the context of current events and coming to Jesus and salvation as they study it.

You think Jesus and the Father did not know what the world would be doing in 2021? They knew people would be seeking answers to a crazy globalizing world and seeking a witness and answers as to what was happening in the modern big brother internet world. Revelation is a POWERFUL tool of evangelism and bringing the gospel to lost people today. In fact its the ONLY book in the Bible that promises a special blessing on those who read, study and keep the words of it as a witness to the lost world.

Its not the only tool for evangelism, but it is a very powerful and effective one in 2021 and the last thing on earth we should do its put it away and act like it does not exist.

Amen

Those prophecies of Jesus and Israel are what set the Bible apart form any religion on earth. The Bible laid out many centuries ahead of time when He would come, what family and town he would come from, what He would do and the entire story of the Jews rejecting Him, the crucifixion by Rome and all that followed. Including the total destruction of Israel, the Jewish diaspora in 70-130 AD and the modern rebirth of Israel in 1948, even the fact they they would STILL be rejecting Jesus.

Other religions do not even try to do those things, it would expose them as fake and man made when those events didn't come to pass.

Its another POWERFUL witness for Jesus and the Gospel and a powerful evangelizing tool. We have evidence where we can say the Bible predicted x, y and Z and history recorded all those things happened just as predicted and right when it predicted them. No other religion offers anything like that. They are all 100% BLIND faith.

Not only does its create faith and lead people to salvation, it removes double mindedness and doubts from believers who struggle with double mindedness. It strengthens your faith in a way most people do not think is even possible, particularity in a modern world that is constantly attacking the Word and the Gospel as fake and man made. Christians who study the OT prophets have a faith that nothing in the world can bring into doubt. They are FULLY CONVINCED and live life daily without doubt. It actually makes your faith more real and you tend to become a better and stronger Christian on a daily basis.

Well, no one should ever question your zealous appetite for spreading the word. As I get older I am more aware of others where they are in life and what method is best for them to actually hear and receive the word. Remember we are just messengers and each person must decide for themselves. Uncomfortable? Nah. I haven’t been a kid for over a quarter of a century. In the famous words of Stonewall Jackson “The Lord has already appointed a time for my death so I need not worry about what hour that will be.”

I grew up in a strict Bible based church and I have seen firsthand how folks can be RIGHT BIBLICALLY and still be sinning in their approach to admonish or CORRECT others even in matters there are not really that important on the grand scale of things. Food for thought.

I am always reminded a photograph of a giraffe in HS with the caption: Engage brain before speaking which is also biblical in a way in which we are to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Great stuff. Carry on

We all do that my friend, its not unique to you. Its just part of life and growing as a believer. Being a "kid" has nothing to do with any of this, I have seen plenty of 70+ year olds who are very uncomfortable with Holy Spirit discussions or spiritual gift discussions, end times discussions or even salvation discussions. There are a lot of believers out there who are very uncomfortable with certain Biblical topics and typically try to shut down others from talking about or suggest they might be doing something bad or wrong by discussing it, or just saying there are better things to discuss. Its just how they react to those topics.

I was not sinning when I made that post, nor was I failing listing to anyone, nor is there anything remotely unchristian about pointing to signs of the times.

I simply made a post about how this type of technology is a sign of the times, why you are reacting by making all these accusations about what I did is beyond me but its clearly not what I said in that post at all.

The Bible is nearly 1/3rd prophecy and puts quite a big spotlight on end times events. Its clearly an issue Christ wanted us to study and include in our witness and evangelizing roles as believers, just as Peter and the Apostles often did. Its a very powerful tool in our tool kit and leads a lot of people to Christ, particularity in modern times. It may not be your personal preference, but its a powerful witness to a lot of nonbelievers (and believers for strengthening faith) and not one we should ever discourage others from using.

When did they fall out of God's favor?

This is the first I have ever heard that before.

Is that a serious question? How can you have never heard this before? That's like saying you never heard of America breaking off from the British Empire.

They turned their back on Him and worshiped other Gods and joined the surrounding nations in things like child sacrifice and countless other practices He stickily forbid in the OT law.

A big portion of the OT is the same pattern repeating itself. The Israelites turn away from God and fall into sin and depravity, God judges them for it, their enemies overtake them, they repent and return to God and prosper for a while, then the next generation again turns away from Him into sin and depravity. Each generation has at least small number of people and prophets who remain Holy in Gods eyes and He uses them to warn the people of impending destruction and judgment if they do not return to Him.

When Jesus finally came some 1500 years after Moses, the leadership was so corrupt they rejected Jesus and demanded the Romans crucify Him, which is what the prophets predicted would happen in great detail centuries earlier. The religious leaders were so corrupt they were not even aware of what the prophets and scripture had predicted, or even that they had predicted it to happen right when it did. All they cared about was retaining their perceived monopoly on piety and filling their pockets.

Read Matthew 23 and hear what Jesus said about them and their impending destruction.

Jesus and the prophets also predicted Israel would be totally destroyed in the same generation Jesus was crucified, and they would be scattered across the whole earth but be reborn as a nation in the Holy Land (yet STILL rejecting Jesus) in the latter years just before the 2nd coming.

History proves all this unfolded just as written thousands of years ago in the OT prophets.
