Pay in the range of what the VA Tech coach makes ($165K) realistic. Of course, heavy bonuses for hosting regionals and making WCWS would be included.

Oklahoma’s coach makes a base of $1.2mil so I fully understand climbing that ladder if that’s what she chooses.
Patty has been their HC since 1995, has won 4 national championships and won over 1,100 games. I mean...there's almost too many accomplishments to name for her...so I'm not sure that's really a good comparison lol.
LaPorte has always been around non-P5 schools, so I don't see her running off. If we can get the money anywhere close, it would be shocking to see her leave.

Why I said “climbing that ladder” and didn’t say that’s the next rung on the ladder, but a few rungs and she’s there. If you’re making a fraction of that, another successful stop or two will get you there.
They really were incredible - my only beef was letting it get to 6-1... absolutely should have pulled CC when it was 4-1. LL even went to the mound, the tears started, and then she stayed in. What?
Might not have made a difference............but you just never know (obviously I am armchair here) - the next pitch sealed the game.
"Beef" isn't even the right word - too strong..I'm sure it was a tough call for the coach, but she had to have known how exhausted she was and over-ruled any protests from CC

JMU probably made 400k off the apparel they sold during this run. Just give all that to Laporte lol

Lynsey was my favorite player on this team. I thought she was the personification of the team's soul, heart, character, and personality. Tough, serious, intense, talented, but always smiling and uber-confident, and with an attitude and demeanor that shouted, "I know I don't look like I belong here, so go ahead, doubt me, and watch what happens!" And, never too serious to have a little fun. I loved the bodybuilding poses which reminded me a lot of Nooch's first down pistols.
It's a great time to be a Dukes fan!

I have never been so proud of a JMU program more than I have been for JMU softball.
I am proud of each and every one of those ladies and how they represented themselves and our University. We all know how great JMU is, but they personified what JMU is all about. I am incredibly proud as an alum and a fan.
We should never forget this team and what they have done. They deserve to be remembered.
there is a softball fund raising challenge where every dollar up to $25k donated to softball will be matched by an anonymous donor. last i heard, they were short of the $25k.
it would be a shame if we didnt step up and support this team

Couldn’t have said it better. Never felt so proud to support this university and equally glad the world got to see the Dukes on the biggest stage. Storybook.
This run was so inspiring in so many ways. It’s a joy to watch such talented athletes and made even better when we get to see what great people they are. JMU sports has provided fans so many wonderful memories through the years. This softball team is another in a long list.
I hope the team sees these posts. They deserve all of the accolades they are receiving.
Thank you softball Dukes not just for this year but for many years of great play and entertainment. Let’s not forget the great softball teams that have come before this one. Two of which were on the cusp of making the WS. Those softball alums are part of this run too as they paved the way for this years team to believe that JMU softball can compete and beat any school. As coach said, no intimidation.

At 11:30am yesterday the Duke Club announced on Twitter that they had met their goal, so that's at least $50k raised. I would imagine there's been a significant amount more than that that will continue coming in.

I don't know if they read anything here (maybe they will now that the season is done - hopefully no athlete reads this midseason...or at all honestly), but I do know they read Twitter. Kate liked the couple tweets I tagged her in yesterday. I'm sure over the next couple days they'll be working their way through the mountains of social media posts. If you have something you want an athlete to read, I'm sure you could use social media or email the DC or softball program and they could forward it on.
