Said it once, I’ll say it again, the North stinks, NU was untested

Chenault pitched with confidence and cleaned it up, but have to face the truth. Hughes caved big time under pressure twice in a row in relief. Loaded the bases with multiple walks, then walked in runs against Charlotte and now NU. It's a lot to ask from a freshman. That's not picking on anyone, it's just the facts.

Great win, but we need more than Chenault under pressure in relief.

Reggie Jackson had the nickname of "Mr. October" because of his post season performances. Cole Weiss may be "Mr. May" in the CAA.

If we win the tournament, he's the MVP right now, not doubt.

Chenault was also the difference tonight. Good job!! It’s late May so we knew Cole would step up.

Huskies are very good and will be hard to knock off! Go Hawks!!

RE: UNCW CAA Tournament Game # 2 - # 2 UNCW vs # 1 Northeastern (Friday - 7 PM)
I don't think that at all. Huskies are very, very good period. Hawks were lucky tonight to hold on because we didn't stay focused the entire game offensively and NU is a juggernaut with pitching and hitting. And, when you play an 18-0 CAA team that is UBER talented, you CAN"T do that. Hopefully, we will be more focused when we play them tomorrow at 5 pm barring weather.

Yes, I called NU the winner already. C of C is a fine program that is killer every year but NU is a beast. Hope I'm wrong here because the Cougars would be gassed but Hawks will have hands full to get their title.

Do I feel confident in the Hawks, yes but I understand that this is a VERY underrated NU club that should get a bid if they don't go ahead and run the table. To me, it should happen but they didn't have a great schedule. We came up a bit short for the At Large due to the slump, so we know we have to be focused. Hawks know that NU is THAT good. It showed tonight.

Hope we win the tournament so I can stream a game. I’ve just been following Twitter updates. Uncw baseball account is doing a great job with quick highlights and updates nearly real time. Done with flo. Not paying for that the full year.

Under rated? I’d say just the opposite. The north stinks. That’s already proven itself true in this tournament. Yes NU is good, we get it. But I can tell you with 1000% certainty zero percent chance they’d have been undefeated in the south. Didn’t stay focused the entire game? What are you even talking about? They kept the pressure on the whole game, squeezing across a few insurance runs late. Sure maybe they could have pushed across a few more with their chances but they won, and doubled up what you seen to think is the best team ever

We handled NU very well yesterday. But I saw them dismantle Charleston. So I do believe they are a dangerous team. The key for them looks to be how well they start. We put them behind the 8 ball early yesterday and they couldn't do enough to catch up. Hoping Charleston comes out angry from their loss to them and returns the favor. The problem is Charleston has played 4 games to NU's 2. Don't know if they have the pitching to pull it out.

UNCW did not take advantage of their opportunities tonight after Cole in the 2nd inning. When you have runners in scoring position with no outs and don’t score- that is not taking advantage. I was glad to see them keep the pressure on however.

It would be great if the Cougars can beat them, but they have only a 1 percent chance imho.

lol @ Bill. This is D1, CAA baseball we're talking about. The chances are always greater than 1 %.

I'm sure the guys just feel terrible they didn't beat the 1-seed by more than 4 runs, too, just terrible. If only we played perfect baseball at all times and the other team didn't try to win too. We'd win every game by 10+ runs.

Agree really disappointed, it’s a terrible take. And given we DID push across two more runs after the Weiss bomb saying we didn’t after that isn’t true at all

It's as if he paid no attention when NU crushed Charleston. This is a very good team we beat. Bill prefers to look at the "missed opportunities". I look at the big picture: We had a lot of good at-bats, we bunted and moved runners over, got the big hits when we needed them (especially Weiss but there were others), had I believe 13 or 14 total hits on the day, worked the pitch count, played excellent defense and got very good pitching. What more can you really ask for?

This is tournament baseball. Everyone is emptying the kitchen sink and selling out completely to win the next game. So even when you win ugly at a tournament, you take it. Yesterday was NOT an ugly win. It was an impressive one against a very good team.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this at the end of the game yesterday: Entering the contest, NU was 17-0 on the season when scoring in the first inning. We handed them their first loss in that category.
