Out of curiosity, do you have where they slotted the Southland Conference teams this year? I am really surprised that Tarleton and Dixie State are at 106 and 107, respectively but would certainly love a glimpse of the Southland schools rankings.

This is just one voter’s poll. I don’t know his biases. I imagine he simply doesn’t know much about Tarleton or Dixie and shrugged them off as D2 move ups who will need to prove themselves before receiving more consideration. Like you, I’m surprised about where they are ranked. Tarleton in particular should have earned more respect by beating both NMSU and SFA since they started the move up process.

I'd agree that Tarleton should be higher but not because of those two wins lol.

RE: AQ7 Preseason Polls & Recognition
Per the Bible of Texas Football, DCTF (Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, an annual magazine), the projected order for the WAC/ASUN:

1. Sam Houston
2. Jacksonville State
3. Central Arkansas
4. SFA
5. Eastern Kentucky
6. Tarleton
7. ACU
8. Lamar
9. Dixie

SFA has two great recruiting classes so they should be getting better with time.

The Tarleton team which played the first two games of the spring season, is a top four team. The Tarleton team which played the last three games of the spring season, is a bottom four team.

Should be a fun season.

Agreed!! SFA especially with Carthel at the helm is bound to strike it hot any season now! But I do believe the WACSUN is going to be a fun one. I really don’t think their is a slouch in this league. Even Lamar. Call me old fashion but I love a good option heavy team. Especially if ran correctly. That’s some good entertaining football!

RE: AQ7 Preseason Polls & Recognition
Article on the money games that Dixie State has on their slate this coming year. Trailblazers bringing in roughly $315k over three games. The big money is from South Dakota State which is paying over $200k for the home game.

===
Dixie State football will finally play a full schedule this upcoming fall, including several matchups against top-rated FCS programs, and a few of those games will come with a hefty paycheck as well.

The Spectrum reviewed the game contracts of three of DSU's games next season — Delaware, South Dakota State and Weber State — and found those contracts should be worth $315,000 for DSU this next year.

The most valuable contract is the one with South Dakota State University, which finished the spring 2021 season as the national runner-up to Sam Houston State.

DSU will earn $205,000 from its game against the Jackrabbits, who compete in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

RE: AQ7 Preseason Polls & Recognition
By season’s end, fans may be clamoring for more of the AQ7 – the one-year FCS football alliance between the ASUN and the Western Athletic Conference.

Both conferences held separate media days on Wednesday, but the two together are better in the 2021 season.

RE: AQ7 Preseason Polls & Recognition
Five questions about Sam Houston...

Quote:What will playing in the WAC be like?
Sam Houston’s new home is the Western Athletic Conference, which will be playing football for the first time since 2012. Sam Houston left the Southland along with Stephen F. Austin, Lamar and Abilene Christian.

For this season only, the WAC will partner with the newly-formed ASUN for the WAC/ASUN Challenge. The seven-league team, which includes Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky from the ASUN, will compete for an automatic qualifier in the FCS playoffs. Sam Houston will retain its rivalry with SFA in Battle of the Piney Woods. This year’s game is at NRG Stadium on Oct. 2.
