RE: Running Back U
Interesting football/track crossover. At one of the major track meets recently they were recording their 40yd times during the 100m race. A few 4.1s and a lot of 4.2s. It’s not apples to apples because of the starting blocks and spikes gives an advantage for track runners. But on the other hand they are at the disadvantage of having a starting gun(about a .16 second loss) as opposed to 40yd which the time starts on first movement.

Waylee is a full on sprinter. Wolfe was fast, not Waylee fast. And Wolfe was small - Waylee is just skinny.
I would argue for the shared carries approach, not necessarily a 50/50 split or anything, but there are a lot of talented backs on this roster. Save Waylee in his first 12+ game college season.
Are you not old enough to remember watching Wolfe play? Short of MAYBE TLL, he’s the fastest player I’ve ever seen at NIU. Saying Waylee is faster....not sure about that.
No way is he faster than Waylee - heck he might not even have been faster than AJ Harris in his prime at NIU.
Wolfe was fast, but Waylee is another level.
Didn't Nathan Palmer run a 4.34 40? He also tore Minnesota a new one.
I like Waylee. But he's not on Garrett's level. Garrett ran a 4.38 and also never dipped below 6.0 YPC.
All of that is true - except I couldn’t find Wolfe’s 4.38 anywhere, but Waylee is faster.
I like Wolfe - he was amazing - but I stand by Waylee is just faster.
I certainly hope Waylee is a better/faster player than Wolfe. That would mean for a few amazing seasons for us, as well as excitement in DeKalb again.

I don’t think there’s any chance he’s better than Wolfe. That would be crazy expectations. He just has better top end speed. I would bet Wolfe is better than Waylee in just about every other aspect. Just rewatch the OSU highlights again. Wolfe was phenomenal.

True. But no one saw him coming. Wasn't he fifth string when he showed up freshman year?

Something like that. But you saw the superstar ability right away. Had a 200 yard game in his second start. Scored 10tds in his first 6 games. Definitely not saying Waylee can’t be great. Just with the really special guys it’s almost like you see it immediately.

Then I'll say I like Waylee alot. If he stays healthy he will be in the conversation of top NIU backs since 2000.

Did Kenny Golladay burst on to the scene immediately? He was just a decent WR at UND. Out of high school he was lanky.

He had good stats there. More exposure at NIU. Oh that endzone grab at Toledo!

Garrett Wolfe was a poor man's Barry Sanders. He could make you look stupid.

We knew Golladay was going to be a monster from his UND highlights.

The very first time I saw Kenny in practice I said he’s a big time WR. He just looked so much better than anyone else. I would had bet he’d be great before he ever saw any game action.

As great a talent as KG is, my moments of him are always being open and the ball 10 yards short. He is probably the most under utilized talent ever in deKalb.

5th string..behind All Pro Michael Turner, the player of the year in Wisconsin Adrian Davis, behind a 320lb track guy in AJ Harris (a damn good player just not an All - American or All Pro) Yeah freshmen sit down with that depth as many greats do at other schools. I don't care what the clock says... Waylee can not run like Wolfe.

RE: Running Back U
I am very high in Waylee. I think he is a stud. He played well behind a young offensive line. He has put on 10 lbs of muscle. Drucker was injured last year. He was the prized recruit. Yet to see him in real action. Now comes Brown. Big and fast. Highest recruit out of high school ever. Waylee , I think, will be first team All MAC. If people think the other two are better than how do you get enough touches for all. If Waylee is the homerun hitter I think he is, I want 20+ touches a game. Every touch could be a 60 yard run. Good problem to have

I'm with you. I don't want to set Waylee up for unreasonable expectations but to see him toy w NIU defense this spring means 1 of 2 things: 1) he is awesome or 2) NIU D is bad.
Since he was real good as a frosh with a limited oline I'm going with 1) Awesome.
