Football Tickets - Individual Games
Anyone know when tickets for individual games go on sale? Before anyone gets snarky with a "Google is your friend" comment, I've already checked gotigersgo.com and other sites and haven't found anything other than the deadline for purchasing season tix.

Live out of town and want to come in for the Cowbell U game on Sept 18 and also may do a road trip to Houston in October.

Nowadays it's probably between $50 and $60. I remember back in the early 2000's it was $45 for an SEC team, and $15 for all other games.

I believe those were season tkt prices, individual game tickets were higher. Yes SEC game tkt prices are higher, maybe $100 each. You almost get the other seven games at half price when you purchase season tkts. If you could make 3 or 4 home games it would be worth it to get the season tkts.

We’ve had season tix for years, but opted out last year. My wife and I have gotten to the point (me, more than her) that we’d rather just watch at home. So much less hassle than going all the way to the liberty bowl and dealing with crowds, traffic, etc. My boss is from Starkville and a huge State fan, so we may do that game with them. That’s why I was curious about the SEC prices.

You may be an example of another long-term effect of the Pandemic. I wonder how many other fans will be out of the habit of going to live football games and will choose to stay home and watch on TV?

We have wondered the same thing at my church. Will folks who have gotten used to watching a live-stream service in their pajamas come back to in-person worship, or will they choose to continue the easier choice?

This darn COVID has far-reaching consequences.

100% of the memorable football experiences I've had with my daughter were attending a live game. They're times that I'll remember forever, and wouldn't have happened had I just stayed home and watched on TV. I thought about just watching the games on TV, but I don't want to miss those experiences.

Yeah, I agree. I'm able to say that I saw our Tigers beat UTAY 21-17 in person. I saw a old Tiger fan crying on the way out of the stadium. he said "I thought we'd never beat those sons-of-b******s".

Then too, I still remember all the orange stuff I saw discarded on the ground leaving the stadium...pom-poms, flags, I even saw some orange shirts they had taken off and thrown away.

You can't experience that on TV.

Football Tickets - Individual Games
They just announced it… Single tickets available to season ticket holders on July 15 and August 2 for non-season ticket holders (with a Mississippi State caveat).

That's usually dependent on when the other schools give us our allotment.

The latest email they just sent today says:

Quote:In addition to these dates, AWAY GAME TICKETS will be available during the month of July.

August 16 will be their busiest day. Do we give MSU an allotment or will they let them buy what's left?

I would guess that there is an allotment that goes to MSU for them to sell directly, but there is nothing to stop a Mississippi State fan from buying the tickets from Memphis. They don't ask what color you're going to wear before selling them.

When the two schools negotiate the contract to play, they also negotiate ticket allotment for the visiting team. Let's pick a number of 7,000 tickets. Memphis will sell that block of tickets to MSU at a negotiated/discounted rate. Then, MSU sells those tickets to their boosters/season ticket holders, usually based on their priority.

There are also agreements in the contract for increasing the visitors allotment if sales are brisk or give back part of the allotment if sales are slow.

Beyond that, anyone can purchase tickets thru the Memphis ticket office, when they are released to the public.
