What does it mean to you?

To most southerners, the Confederate flag is a symbol of southern identity or heritage (not a symbol of hate). We are Southern culturally first and foremost.

I can respect that but the flag is the official flag of the Confederate States of America which fought against the United States in order to preserve the institution of slavery.

You understand that right?

First, there were several official flags of the Confederacy.

1st National Flag of the Confederate States of America (C.S.A.)
The Stars and Bars
November 28, 1861 – May 1, 1863

2nd National Flag of C.S.A.
The Stainless Banner
May 1, 1863 - March 4, 1865

3rd National Flag of C.S.A.
The Blood-Stained Banner
March 4, 1865 - End of War

However, the flag typically referred to today as the Confederate Flag was never an official flag of the C.S.A.

Per wikipedia:
Quote:Though never having historically represented the Confederate States of America as a country, nor having been officially recognized as one of its national flags, the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia and its variants are now flag types commonly referred to as the Confederate Flag.

Second, and possibly more important, is the fact that the Democratic Party was the party of slavery. Southern members of the Democratic Party are the ones who broke away from the Union and formed their own nation. And their motive was explicitly to preserve and defend slavery based upon their idea that the white man was superior to the black man.

So, those who despise the Confederate flag and everything for which it stood should make it paramount to stand against the Democratic Party and everything it stood for. In fact, based on today's leftist cancel culture the Democratic Party should be abolished.

Which one do you think I"m talking about?

Well, I know what you said...

and I think I know what you meant. Thus my post.
