Any way, any place we can play Tennessee, I'm all for it.

Of course, I want another game here...but let's be realistic. At 50, I've already seen a 100 year pandemic AND UT play ETSU at Freedom Hall. Unlikely to see either again.

It's doable for local fans to attend, assuming they could get tickets. And I would assume there will be a number of tickets on the secondary market. Be neat if a caravan would go down to see them.

After the scare ETSU gave them last time they played at Freedom Hall, I highly double UT plays here again. Least during Barnes tenure.

I believe Barnes made some snide comment at the time confirming that.

ETSU didn't give UT a scare they blew a game they should have won. We had a pretty good team, at home vs Meh Vol's team.
As for Why Barne's doesn't want to play us (or other in-state mid-majors) there is zero upside for the Vols if they win, they were supposed to, if they lose it hurts RPI, credibility. They lose money playing mid-majors on the road. You play those games type of games at home, make the money. You go on the road to play other high majors.

I harbor no ill feelings against UT for not wanting to play in JC. If I was their AD there is 0.0000% chance I would play at any in-state mid major school.

It seems like (without doing one second of research) that UT has reduced the number of in-state opponents the last few years. Not sure if that was on purpose or just the way things have worked out.

Hopefully we can play them every 3-4 years going forward. Or maybe more often.

Good take, most seem to think UT is scared or for some strange reason "owe" people to play in state schools (on the road).
They aren't and they don't.
Purely a business decision.

I wish we would, but we won't be playing Wake Forest anytime soon.

Doc Sander got a lot of national attention for the buyout clause about the bigger school playing a home game once they hire your coach away. Then he took it out of Forbes' contract.

I lived in Winston Salem and actually had Wake season football tickets one year. Wish them the best. But I don't really follow any basketball team other than ETSU and ETSU opponents (to a lesser degree). Anything else is very peripheral.
