Can we just go home?
Would there be any ramifications for forfeiting Thursday's game which is meaningless for both teams? How many thousands of dollars will we have to spend for hotel rooms (and food) in Montgomery for players and staff tonight and tomorrow night? Probably, at least, 5000 bucks if not close to 10,000. Really not money well spent.

I don’t know how tie breakers work in pool play, but let’s say USA beats Coastal tomorrow, and somehow Little Rock beats USA Thursday. All teams would be 1-1 in pool play. So there is a reason to play. But if the tie break is based on runs for and against a team, losing to Coastal by 14 runs would probably eliminate us anyway. The way the Trojans have played down the stretch of this season is extremely disappointing!

It seems I heard on the broadcast there was no way LR could advance. The 2nd game is indeed meaningless.

That's why I really wanted to finish second. The top team in each pool (1st in 2 pools, 2nd in the other 2 pools) advances in the event of a 3 way tie (i.e. all teams go 1-1). There can be no other "ties" in the 3 team set-up. Tomorrow, if Coastal wins, they win the pool at 2-0. If USA wins, they win the pool, with a meaningless game left against us. I guess the schedule could have been worse. If we were playing USA tomorrow, it would still be a meaningless game, since USA would have had to beat CC in their next game regardless of the result. So USA would have been smart to pitch "field" players (or certainly their worst pitchers) to be sure to have all of their best pitchers available for Coastal the next day. Rather bizarre set-up to begin with.
