There may be a lot of baseball coaches out of a job shortly. Todd Whitting (19-32, 7-21 in conference) is on very thin ice at UH too.

But a head coach who has gone 26-33, 2-14, and 23-29-1 (51-76-1 overall) in his three seasons gets a pass.

Childress was 83-53-1 (.609) in his last 3 seasons

Bragga was 51-76-1 (.402)

I fail to see any difference whatsoever.

I keep wondering on the Karlgaard/AD thread what Renu Khator and Tilman Fertitta would do if they were calling the shots on South Main Street. This should give us a hint.

That and the reality that Childress' contract was expiring; whereas Bragga has another two years on his.

Childress will have no trouble finding another home. He's been one of the best pitching coaches in the college ranks for 20+ years-- first at Nebraska and then as head coach at A&M. And he's still relatively young at 52. I'd hire him in a minute for the Rice job.

Does anyone have a clue what the buyout on Bragga’s contract is? It can’t be particularly large.

Well he’ll be 54 when Bragga’s contract is up. I’m sure he’ll wait around for the offer. :sarcasm alert:

Anyone thinks Bragga will get to 0.500 over his contract? Assuming say 55 games a year, he’d have to go 68-42 (0.618) to complete his contract with a record of 119-118-1.
