RE: Memphis in NIT Season Tip-Off
Most early polls have Va Tech in the Top 25 and Lunardi has Xavier as a projected 8 seed in next year's tournament. Very winnable tournament and frankly, one we need to win so we're not in an uphill climb like last year. It'll be interesting to see how they seed the four teams.

Nor October. For that matter, September and August, too.

Need to win a couple of games in this tourney or will be in the same uphill battle to make the NCAA tourney we've become used to over the last several years. Don't say that as a criticism of our program but just recognition of the bias against the AAC in league play.

Counting Memphis...
The AAC had 4 teams more than 1 game above .500. The entire conference needs to do better.

As long as our conference isn't respected by the committee, we'll always have an uphill battle to get in.
We have a great bball conference, but only 2 got in last year. Big10 had 9 or something. You can't tell me the Big10 is that much better than AAC. AAC had a Final4 team. It could be argued that AAC was better.

The AAC was horrible last year on paper.
Only 4 teams more than 1 game over .500.
Win both games vs. 11-12 tulsa and we are in

Last year was a goofy year. There was great disparity of conference games played around the country - and especially in the AAC. And many of the OOC games (where wins are accumulated) were cancelled. Still, the AAC finished as the #7 conference in Sagarin, as we always do.
Certainly bottom teams are a problem. ECU, USF, Tulane are always a problem. Because of this, we will never crack the top 5-6 conferences. But I tend to think last year's "4 teams more than 1 game above .500" (seems arbitrary, but whatever) is the aberration. I know that's not the narrative, but it seems more factual than coming to a conclusion based upon a COVID year.
And if NCAA results matter, then maybe the AAC was under-valued. Personally, I've never bought this argument. But it does tend to get used against us, so might as well use it in our favor since Houston made their run.

My daughter made Iowa State cheer for this next school year. She is hoping she will go to NY. I told her I will be cheering for the Tigers if they play Iowa State.

Yep, only one AAC in the final four.
