As reported in today’s Detroit Free Press, MATT Campbell was offered and turned down an 8-year $68.5M contract to coach the Lions (according to CBS Sports). Chris Spielman was believed to have spearheaded the Lion’s interest in him. Current head coach DAN Campbell even joked at his introductory news conference that he told his agent to make the team think he was Iowa State coach Matt Campbell.

High praise if you ask me. Shows just how good of a coach he is viewed by people in the know. Many don’t like how he left, but he has shown his coaching abilities.

Lions need new ownership.

That's a lot of money. If he took the job, he would've have been doomed. I don't really care for Campbell especially the way he left us, but, I don't blame him for turning it down. The Lie Downs (Lions) should've just hired Spielman. Remember when his son played for UT for a minute?

I agree with this. Unless pros is a goal, how can the money be worth it when you're already making so much? To go from a place where you are appreciated, liked and an important part of the community to a mercenary? It had better be a goal.
