RE: Spencer Turnbull
No-hitters pretty cheap these days. That's the fifth one this year and it's not even June.

Hitting in MLB is worst it's ever been.

I wouldn't say hitting in MLB is the worst it's ever been. The last full season, 2019, saw an average of 4.85 runs scored per game. That's 7th best since 1950.

What is true is hitting has changed in MLB. Players swing for the fences and take a lot of pitches. That causes a lot of strikeouts, walks, & HRs. It also causes way less hits. Therefore, no hitters have become somewhat common.

The ball was also changed after last season to drive offense down, although i don't they ever specified "how". I'd assume lace changes (allowing better spin rate/keep the ball down in the yard) and some kind of change that alters flight. This comes after they "didn't" juice the ball going into 2019 (a single season which has 6 of the top 12 team home run totals for a season, including the top 4).
