That’s what Doss leaves as a tip for moderate service down at the Precinct.

I prefer Carlo and Johnny's which is much closer.

RE: 2019-20 AAC Revenue Distribution
This is the sentence that kills me.

Commissioner Mike Aresco made $2.315 million in compensation during the 2019-20 fiscal year, up from the $1.929 million the previous year.

No way has he earned this or deserved a raise.

IMHO his salary should be the average of the top 3 AD's.

When you think about it in terms that he earned close to 1/3 of what just UC did in total for all of its programs and all of the TV ad time that was sold during its games it does make you scratch your head a bit.

That is like mafia Vig level percentage rate.

With the media deal behind them and the move to Dallas complete, I have to wonder why the AAC does not send him packing. Areaco is 72 years old and next year will be his 10th year ad commissioner. They could bring in an up and comer and pay him/her something in line with the MWC commissioner ($700k) or something a little higher. I’d rather see the $1M+ in salary divided amongst the members.

RE: 2019-20 AAC Revenue Distribution
The American is becoming pretty widely acknowledged as "P6" which is our code for the best G5 conference with the highest revenue media deal of the outsiders. Did Aresco make that happen or watch that happen? My guess is it's a little of both.

My take is that he is media savvy from his time at CBS and his connections in the sports broadcast industry helped get the current ESPN deal in place. It's a bipolar conference--a core of strong schools that could move seamlessly into P5 conferences in terms of competitiveness, facilities, and fan support combined with (mostly) G5 level schools, either in small markets or competing in relative obscurity in larger, pro sports towns. That's why our media deal is meager in comparison to the P5. Needless to say, it's not where we want to be but the next best alternative hasn't emerged yet.

So slice a million off Aresco's contract and send each of 11 members $91,000.00. Does that really move the needle for UC, or the others?

There's just as big of a difference in ticket revenue as there is in conference revenue.

Ticket revenue 2019:
49.2 - Texas A&M
42.1 - LSU
40.5 - Arkansas
39.1 - Alabama
36.9 - Kentucky
36.5 - Georgia
36.1 - Tennessee
29.7 - Florida
28.7 - South Carolina
20.9 - Ole Miss
16.2 - Missouri
7.7 - Cincinnati

Easy to justify increased ticket prices when you play in the SEC and Alabama, Auburn, Florida, etc come to town.

On the last Coffee with Cunningham the AD spoke about both enhancing ticket sales and adjusting ticket prices in the right locations in the stadium (and for the right games- ie the tickets for UCF will be priced higher than Murray State).

^^^^
I appreciate JC making any efforts to improve sales overall and targeted ticket prices. If we start out in the top ten AP with our talent loaded roster and NY6/CFP hype I sure hope that would boost local fan interest this season. Not to mention a downward trending concern over COVID hopefully gets folks pumped to be in a loud, packed stadium again.

Seems the solution is to pay the commissioner a percentage of the revenue he brings in.

Are we sure it is apples to apples. My tickets are $100 each per game, but I must contribute several thousands per ticket. In reality I pay over $300 per ticket.

Higher prices, at near capacity and in a stadium that seats a hell of a lot more than Nippert...oh and 7 home games is almost a given and their fans regularly travel en masse to lots of nearby conference away games and often buy those seats through the school. Yeah, that’s probably apples to apples.

Disclaimer: I am not an accountant, a tax advisor, an attorney, etc. Do not rely on anything I post in terms of making your own life decisions.

It’s my understanding that “ticket sales” is the lesser of face value of a ticket or actual price paid. What any of us pay for tickets cannot be denoted as a charitable contribution because we receive a valuable, tangible license in return.

The monies paid over and above the face value of tickets can be designated as a charitable contribution since you don’t receive anything in return other than nominal value such as t-shirts and other inexpensive items. Because these monies are in essence gifts to a not for profit organization, the university cannot count them as ticket revenue although a fan certainly looks at it that way.

Given the relative costs of the “seat licenses”, my guess is that the disparity is understated from a fan’s point of view.
