Have you blocked clt?

The “Let’s talk soccer” thread has the past two seasons of soccer in there.

RE: Marshal Plays for Natty in Soccer
There is a 42 page soccer thread you seem to have over looked.

"clt says let's talk soccer"

No one seen the need to start a new thread for it. Maybe tomorrow there will be a game day thread for the National Title game. But then again there hasn't been one since the tournament started.

Marshall's Path To The National Title Game
#23 Fordham- Undefeated coming into the NCAAs -- Marshall 2-1 in OT, Golden Goal by Milo Yosef at the 96:41 mark of the first OT
#1 and 1 seed Clemson- The top ranked team in the nation at 14-2-3 -- Marshall 1 Clemson 1 after 2 OT -- Marshall advances on PKs 7-6
#7 and 8 seed Georgetown- Georgetown was the Defending National Champions -- Marshall 1-0, Goal by Jamil Roberts at the 20:05 mark in the 2nd period
#16 AND unseeded North Carolina- UNC had made the College Cup semis the las 3 of 4 years -- Marshall 1-0, Goal by Jamil Robets at the 30:22 mark in the 2nd period

RE: Marshal Plays for Natty in Soccer
We didn't start game threads because once we do, Marshall fans get called out, basically other fans complaining we do too much "look at me" as it is. So most of us have been humbly poking along in that soccer thread.

But yes, people on this board have completely overlooked that we have a CUSA team in the soccer national championship because people overlook that soccer thread.

They are playing for a Natty Light?

Reminds me of my old softball league.

MAYBE a little more important than that.

But yes. I'm hopeful people can join us on the soccer thread for the championship discord.

The championship will be on ESPN2 Monday at 8:00pm EST, Go CUSA! Go Herd!

We don't even have very many seniors. We return 10 starters next year even with all of this.

Peruse through the soccer thread and you'll see all of it. Basically, we have a baller head coach.

Four words lead to this:

"Head Coach Chris Grassie"

I was tweeting with a BE journalist, know it all John Fanta, you want to know anything at all on what is going on in the BE you contact him. And I told him that I believe Chris Grassie is the best DI head coach in the nation.

He has what coaches are always talking about "The It Factor". He knows how to sell himself and the environment around him, he believes in what he is doing, knows how to identify players and develop them. He allows his players to have input in plays, and lets them play during a match.

If you don't have the patients to go through the 42 page thread then here is a break down of Chris Grassie.

The Chris Grassie File
University of Charleston HC for 6 years
WVIAC/MEC Coach of the Year 4 times
99-20-8 Record
6 WVIAC/MEC Titles
1 Sweet 16
2 Elite 8
1 Final 4
2 Title Games

Marshall University (4th year)
CUSA Coach of the Year 2 times
45-24-11 (29-5-6 in the last 2 years)
2 CUSA Ttiles
19 Ranked Wins (Beat #1 Clemson on PKs)
2 NCAAs
1 Sweet 16
1 College Cup Final (Season Not Over)
15 straight weeks in the Top 25 (Currently #10, Highest Rank #8)

Grassie has been in the US since he was 17. He played soccer at DII Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi WV, was a GA under Bob Gray at Marshall, an asst at the University of Charleston, an asst 4 years at Michigan, the head coach at the University of Charleston from 2011-2017. And hired at Marshall in Jan 2017.

Marshall only has 2 seniors and will most likely return 9 or 10 starters next year (well in the fall). Senior Jemil Roberts was drafted by Sporting Kansas City in the MLS draft and will join them once the season is over. The other senior in Pedro Dolabella can return for his senior season, using his extra Covid year but he will have options to go pro elsewhere. Its not been made public on what he will do.

Probable Starting 11 Tomorrow
Wing: Jamil Roberts
Forward: Milo Yosef
Midfielder: Vitor Dias
Midfielder: Vinicius Fernandes
Midfielder: Max Schneider
Midfielder: Pedro Dolabella
Left Back: Gabriel Alves
Center Back: Nathan Dossantos
Center Back: Collin Mocyunas
Right Back: Jan-Erik Leinhos
Goalkeeper: Oliver Semmle

Marshall is very international, all but one starter is international. The one US starter is actually a West Virginia kid. And not only a WV kid, Collin Mocyunas is from Morgantown WV (Evil Laugh).

Before Grassie got to Huntington Marshall was even lucky to make the conference tournament some years. Last year, 2019 was the 1st time Marshall had even been in the NCAA Soccer Tournament. They were actually seeded 11 with a bye last year and beat WVU 2-1 before falling to 6 seed Washington 4-1. Now they are one win away from a national title

I have nothing but great hopes that you will win Monday night. I know it will come with much chest-thumping and obnoxiousness for the next year--and I can't wait. It will be well deserved and bring more attention to the other C-USA teams that already compete at a high level, but perhaps do not always get the respect they deserve. Go get 'em Herd.

Look, if one our own plays for a national championship then it deserves its own thread. Taking down the Tarheels in Cary, NC is a big deal. Just finish it off Marshall.

Respect back. Hopefully we represent CUSA well. I know Charlotte has a deeper, rich history in men's soccer, and you have actually been here before.

If we win, let's open up a celebration here!

RE: Marshal Plays for Natty in Soccer
I said this in the soccer thread, but since it seems we now have the board's eyes on what's happening, this is how special it is for Marshall to be here.

In the tournament, #10 Marshall beat the following:

- Undefeated #23 Fordham
- #1 overall seed Clemson (also #1 team in the country)
- last year's champion #7 Georgetown
- #16 UNC in Cary, NC (30 minutes from their base)

None of that matters now unless we take care of powerhouse #3 team Indiana tomorrow night!

Big Deal, Home field advantage. Not according to Chris Grassie

I have always only ever poked fun at you and other Charlotte fans in jest. At the end of the day, when it's on the line and we're all trying to get respect, we'll pull for each other.

Brothers fight one another all the time.
