EMU is 5th in total selections with 11

I think the Eagles are flying under the radar and are going to surprise a lot of these pundits by the time the season is over. Hutchinson alone is way underrated in this, as far as I am concerned.

And if someone is in the Transfer Portal, they should not be included.

Agree 100% on Hutchinson.

His first season he threw less than 60 times. Last season was his first full season.

He has great potential to improve.

The MAC is always stacked at QB. the 1st team QB is Crum from Kent, 2nd is Eleby from Western, 3rd is Plitt from Ball. Hutch at 4 rounds out a pretty deep set of QBs.

I think what hurts EMU with lists like this is our tendency to platoon guys. We spread the ball around on offense so no RB or WR puts up gaudy numbers.

The Eagles need to do all they can in marketing that home game against Texas Tech. They will likely be going into it 2-1, which would make this a big game for the Eagles and potentially a great game for EMU fans. Would be nice to see a big crowd for that game!

Agree.....hopefully the science and media are synchronizing with each other and informing everyone it’s safe attending sporting events especially outside venues.

Boy do I wish Texas Tech was coming to Rynearson :-)

Cid, I believe you meant Texas State, (not Tech) but your point is still valid and I agree.

If we win against St. Francis, take the L at Wisconsin and then beat Umass on the road.....We are looking at 2-1 going into that Texas State game at home. This game would be H U G E.....here's why...... If we win that and take care of a struggling program like Northern Illinois away we could be 4-1 !!! EMU has been 4-1 in 1995 and 2016. (I'm not looking earlier than 1995) Once we start racking up W's the recruits will follow. I'm convinced. Here's to a 4-1 start and an 8 win season.

My take on Athlon and Lindy........ W O O F. They are garbage. This is the first year I'm not buying Athlon or Lindys. They always give EMU the middle of the road estimate. I'm not buying it that prediction.

We have the best team we have had in recent memory coming back. I know some will say that every MAC school has players coming back and I agree but look at the way these guys were developed and then look at the transfer portal guys we have coming in....

2. WR: I'Shawn Stewart from Oregon State
3. DB: Jarrit Paul from Rutgers
4. QB: Ben Bryant from Cincinnati
5. DT: Dexter Manior from Navy
6. OL: Dmitri Douglas from MSU (previous yr)

None of the guys leaving are going P5. None that I'm aware of.

So if we can't win 8 games with the team we have coming back and coming in (also SUPER high on the O-line both in experience and depth) then I am very concerned. This should be a VERY fun team to watch

It's amazing how for the past 4-5 months, I've said that this's the make it, or break it year for CC and E Michigan football! This team has 20 starters returning, and has added P5 talent! A 6-6 season simply can't happen! 8 wins needs to be the expectation! It's not the pie in the sky attitude either! We need to have 5 wins minimum in the MAC! Year 8 needs to equal competing for A MAC championship! Let's go CC!

Glory Days, I deeply appreciate your posts! That said, please stop referencing the "returning starters". Most MAC schools are going to have a bunch of them as well, as a result of the virus exception. Few MAC players are headed onto professional careers, football unlike basketball presents little, if any options outside the USA. Additionally a football player graduating this spring is only required to invest the fall term of his future to play football for the final time in his life. I suspect that returning starters sans those drafted by the NFL will indeed be plentiful at all MAC schools.

Yep, Jerry one of the problems with grad transfers in FOOTBALL. Is they play one season of FB as a grad student and the after the season is over , they may be over. (Stay eligible for one semester to play their final season).

I saw the Athlon magazine while in the store yesterday. I didn't buy it but checked out the MAC section real quick; I can't remember exactly where they had us in the MAC west (it was either 4th or 5th), and going 6-6 with no bowl game.

I firmly believe the Eagles will be the sleeper team of the MAC this year. I am, though, admittedly biased.

Agree. And I'll be specific: We did a really nice job in getting high quality transfers who have the experience and ability to be immediate contributors.

Added critical players at WR, RB, QB, DB, OL, etc. We lost one (good one) starting WR but gained two. We lost a starting CB but gained two safeties.

https://emueagles.com/documents/2021/3/1...031621.pdf

Arguably most are capable of starting in the MAC. They were all-conference in FCS or 2-deeps in FBS.

'That's a haul."

lol. Agreed. Athlon saves time by just repeating Eastern's forecast year after year. I swear they will never change from a 6-6 year.

Im looking forward to Phil Steele's magazine.

Throwing out 2020 as an anomaly, EMU has been basically a .500 team since 2016. + or - one win off that
mark. 6-6 not considering a Bowl game would be a pretty
safe guess.
