Penn State to become Pumas?
There is mounting pressure at Penn State to be as 'woke' than their peer institutions.

They are abolishing yearly classifications such as freshman, sophomore, junior and senior because of their oppressive gender references.

Penn State is a wonderful and progressive institution and it will do what's best for all parties involved.

They are already abolishing yearly classifications such as freshman, sophomore, junior and senior because of their obvious blatant discrimination, and there is pressure to abolish the Nittany Lion mascot because lion infers the male gender. Nittany Lionesses could be used as a supplement, but that would still not be inclusive for their 'gender neutral and questioning' athletes'.
Pumas may be a suitable moniker unless their are anti-felinist that are against the name. Maybe take a note from Washington's NFL franchise and just be 'team'.

I think the whole thing is silly but it's their business.

I'm sorry but this "woke" crap is a bunch of............crap!05-nono

Eh, PSU can do whatever it wants. No one is forced to apply/go there. It will be interesting to see how all this silly woke nonsense impacts applications/attendance at some of these schools that are going off the deep in in the future.

UTEP is the Miners but in fairness Penn should be the Minors. That's better than Pedo State.

I had always heard when Paterno and Sandusky were there, that PSU didnt mind if things didnt go their way in 1st half because they didnt mind being a little behind in the locker room at halftime. Not sure if true.

Rhodes College was SOOOOO far ahead of the curve.

They changed "Freshman" to "First year student" back in the early 90's.

It would seem they always liked coming from behind.

RE: Penn State to become Pumas?
I don't know about Penn State's rationale behind student classifications, doubt it has anything to do with gender references.

We're getting rid of them where I work because they're confusing as **** now with how many kids come in with credits from AP, College Credit Plus (Post-Secondary program in Ohio), etc. A kid who has never stepped foot on a college campus could technically be considered a junior or senior in their first year at school and are pushing to get into junior and senior level courses because of it, despite not having the courses necessary to do so (because having 30 credit hours of government and history electives don't make you able to take Advances Composite Materials Design). Way easier to just drop the class designation and go by "degree worthy credits"...seen far less emails from students about meetings with advisors and not getting into classes they felt they should since we did it.

RE: Penn State to become Pumas?
I honestly don't understand why some people get upset by name changes.

Where I went to school it was called Jr. High.

Now it's called Middle School.

It's not a big deal.
