Oh my goodness, that comment cracked me up tremendously, Dan!!

Miggy,
I think we all appreciate the insight you provided on Scott to this board regardless of any personal bias you may have in the situation- we all have them. And we appreciate that you recommended he join the program here at EMU. Please do stick around this season, and we can root on Scott/EMU together.

JHG722,
I admire your passion for your alma mater, but there is no need for you to come here to defend it’s reputation. I assure you we were only interested in Miggy’s description of Scott’s skills and experiences, and any hint of disparaging comment on Temple (if there was any?) does NOT register with us at all. We simply have no interest in Temple one way or another- we are EMU fans. You need not come back to this board. In any case, I wish Temple the best of luck once the basketball season does come around.

RE: New Heath Transfer
Thank you RamyEMU. I work with outstanding high school, college, and professional bb players alike. I’m often asked for my input by HS players into colleges, land by high-major college players in the Big East and AAC, as where to transfer to. EMU is at the top of my list.

Scott’s freshman year at Kennesaw State he came off the bench and In his only start scored 33-points against Stetson. Playing his sophomore year, Scott scored 26-points against Butler, 22-points coming in the second half. He scored 20-points against NJIT in the second half. Against Texas Tech and Univ. Of Washington, he scored 19-points, against Florida State he scored 17-points. He averaged 17.3 points per game his sophomore year.

When he transferred from KSU, he was rated 7th best transfer in the nation, and drew offers from Virginia Tech,Maryland, Dayton, and Nevada, but chose Temple.

At Temple, when he played many minutes in conference play he shot and scored well. As he scored 25-points against UConn in a double overtime win, 22-points (6-assists) against SMU in an overtime win, and scored 16-points in Temple’s win over Tulane. His 25-points scored off the bench against UConn was tied for the most points scored by a player against UConn that season.

Those three wins are even more significant, as in Temple’s first meeting with those teams, Temple lost by a whopping 15, 16, and 14-points respectively, as Scott played far fewer minutes and took few shots.

Scott conference play shooting 54.7 percent on two’s, the highest percentage for any guard in the conference.

Has a great first step and gets by defenders with ease. Can shoot well off his dribble from anywhere on the court. Has a high Bb IQ. Is terrific in the open court.

Outstanding EMU Asst.Coach Trice was one of his coaches at Temple.

At Portland State, and in his second start playing PG against Oregon State that made it to the Elite Eight in this year’s NCAA tournament, he led PSU from a 17-point half-time deficit. As PSU outscored OSU 45-35 in a second half comeback that fell just short of winning the game. He scored 13-points in the second-half that included four three-point plays.

He led PSU in scoring averaging 15.7 ppg in conference play, (high of 26-points against Weber State) and averaged shooting 35.7 percent on three’s. He also led PSU in total rebounds at 5.3 per game, including 1.7 offensive rebounds per game, 1.8 steals, 3.2 assists, and led team in number of foul shots. Shot poorly at the foul line, but shot at 80 percent at the foul line at KSU. He averaged 1.8 steals per game in conference play at PSU, the second best in conference play. He had an outstanding defensive rating of 95 points per 100 possessions.

As for turnovers, he didn’t start playing PG till four games into the season with no preseason preparation. Although his turnover rate of 3.1 per game was a little high in conference play, his turnovers were of such a nature that only 13-points were scored off his turnovers in conference play. His dribble was rarely stolen nor did his intercepted passes result fin easy hoops.

As a combo guard, Scott can play either PG, SG, or even SF. In 12 out of PSU’s 14 conference games, Scott shot 42.5 percent of three’s. Playing for EMU will be his first opportunity since his freshman year, to play with a plethora of other good three-point shooters. Fully expect Scott to be in EMU’s starting line-up.

Best I not post here when season commences, but did want to share some info on James Scott.

Have enjoyed reading EMU’s fans insightful and respectful insights here, and look forward to following your takes on this up-coming season. EMU has hired an outstanding HC and look forward to his continuing to sign terrific recruits.

hey man thanks for the insight
