RE: 2021 22 Mens Hoop Schedule Thread
They wonʻt sign a home n home unless the Rockets have a Loyola type run. Xavier has been a top 25 team regularly in recent history. Just read a blog about scheduling this year being very slow. Lots of programs lost revenue last year and few mid-major teams and even some high majors donʻt want to load up on "buy games"-where you pay a team around 50-70K to play at your place with no return game. Expect to see some schools sign regional in season home-n-home series. where a school like Ball St plays IUPUI twice in the same year. Most MAC schools are already committed to an MTE tournament but some of those tournaments (incl the Bahamas Showcase w UT) are struggling to fill their field. Typically, those tourney pay mid majors 10K or so per game, a majority of their travel and hotel costs. Bigger tourneys with bigger TV deals pay a bit more.

A fun regional possibility is UW Milwaukee. They got a freshman who is a projected top 10 NBA pick (coachʻs son) and usually schedule a couple MAC home-home series. Could be a chance for UT fans to see a top national player.

RE: 2021 22 Mens Hoop Schedule Thread
I’d still like to see us play A-10 teams with a history of doing home and away games with MAC teams, Duquesne and St Bonaventure.

Also, would love a four game series with Loyola ILL.

Would like to see us drop Detroit and CSU, those games never draw well home or away.

Also, play at least two power conference teams on the road, good money, exciting games to travel too, a win means something and good for recruiting

Since half the country wants socialism, the ncaa should require P5 schools to visit mid major schools each season…in the name of fairness…

Quoted for future evidence: R_F proclaims socialism is "fair." :)

Have to be clear with the language. Meetchicken will travel down hwy23 to Columbus U and say they "visited" Toledo.

Quoted for future evidence, R_F proclaims socialism is about "fairness" and not that whole ʻwho controls the organization of labor thingʻ which differentiates it from capitalism. R_F is right that half the country wants it. Half of those probably donʻt know what socialism is. Then again, half the people who donʻt want socialism donʻt know what it is either. Most people just donʻt want to feel broke.

Probably closer to 40% than 50% for the overall population according to the most recent polls I've seen.
Of course it is trending higher for younger people
The education system is failing them.

An educational system that says "socialism is bad" is indoctrination, not education. I agree with the sentiment that most do not know there are many forms of "socalism." To some, any form of government spending beyond the road in front of their house is SOCIALISM OMG!!!

People, particularly the young are infrastructure. Business needs a reliable source of labor that doesn't just up and leave when local economy is down. When potential for abuse is removed, there are good reasons to funnel money through the government to personal use, presumably with governent taking only a minimal adminstrative, non-bloated cut (cough Columbus cough). But forcing all to do what should be personal charitable decisions? That's a line to me.

No government system should be creating generational dependents. There is reasonable argument that this is intentional to keep the people peaceful and mollified and despicable if true. No argument for, overcomes the destruction caused by government that allows people to structure their entire lives around teaching their children how to use the system to pay for their food, their housing, their advanced education, their medical, even purchasing of a house and the next generation of babies. That's not building infrastructure.

I want to have more A10 teams on our Bball schedule and it turns into a socialism discussion?

You weren't the OP. OP clearly wanted to discuss globalism. The rest of us were just being good teammates. 04-bolt

I want to own the means of production, I.e. the UT football team (assuming they’re productive this year) but would settle for the government buying my season tickets this year.

They wouldn't be your's. The tickets would have to be fairly distributed.

Assuming attendance of 26000 everyone would get about .13 seconds in my seat. I’m good with that if I get the last .13 so I can leap directly to my feet and celebrate a Rocket victory.

He didn't even use it in his sentence but we do give you props for spelling it correctly.

Scuse me I have to go. There's a long line forming for .13 seconds and I want to get my fair share.

Shyamalan could do a film, a lifetime of Glass Bowl games all in one day "Old Rockets".

back on topic. for whatever reason western michigan, and western michigan only, has released their mac schedlule. of note they play a game w UT in december and have a bye in the conf sched at the end of january. so, the rockets should have a similar bye in the schedule during mac play.

RE: 2021 22 Mens Hoop Schedule Thread
no new UT news but the MAC, and especially the new coaches, are really scheduling up. Barbee and CMU just added a neutral court game with Gonzaga and will play Depaul, the Zags and Xavier in the first 3 weeks of the season with more games still to schedule. NIU is either in need of cash or trying to make a statement. Burno has already scheduled games at Washington and Indiana to open the year with games at Marquette and Dayton in the first month. Buffalo just added an opening game at Michigan and a road trip to local rival and NCAA team St Bonaventure. I guess itʻs mostly the covid revenue loss hangover, but for all the MAC fans who complain about some teams packing the non-conf with weaklings this year is your redemption. MAC teams are hitting the road and playing power conference and name teams en masse. Hopefully, we can breakthrough with enough wins to break the 1 bid drought. The opportunity will be there.

I suspect that this is collecting revenue. I believe Buffalo plays St Boneventure every year

TK says they wanted to schedule to give themselves a shot at an at large. MSU and Richmond are both probably tourney teams so youʻre hoping to split those 2 road games and win a lot against a fairly brand name mid-major schedule (Charlotte, Marshall, Oakland, Bradley, Detroit, Valpo, Tulane?) which isnʻt murderers row but absent of softies.
