It’s telling a lot of the transfers who leave don’t find anywhere else to play either.

COVID played a major part...so there where really no schollys available. You just wait and see i believe that a couple of them will go P5 that left.

I CAN BET THAT MORE KIDS THAT LEFT GO P5 Than Hammock have wins!!

DM me if you want to put money on THAT

I understand you are butt hurt because your son or something was a 4th string corner - but how many guys do you think are going P5? I mean the number is currently at zero. You have a zero percent chance to win your bet

Nope wrong guy fam! I know all of the area guys bro.

You trying too hard

By the way I’m cousins with Garrett Wolfe

Ohh neat! You have a cousin who was really good at NIU a long time ago. Tell me more!

+1 for this. Cole put on a performance for them in 2019. 2020 dealt with the season ending injury, I was excited to see him play this year. It’s like the players they once relied on they all of a sudden seem no longer interested in? Recruits from previous regime, I almost wonder if they will keep all of them playing. Hammock likes younger guys, will Pugh and Deveaux really still play?

IMO, Hammock shuffles players in and out per the pro experience he has. The transfer portal functions like a vehicle of free agency. As the season approaches he continues to assess and then (hopefully) constructs/retains the core plus backups. ... Or I could be wrong. It happens.

But, what about Greg Barksdale? Where does he fit in this? Anyone find any skeletons in Greg's closet......or any of his many girlfriends?

That may be a lost cause. I once said hi to Shatone's girlfriend while we were stopped at a stoplight, but she refuses to tell me anything. I am only able to get information from Shatone's girlfriend's neighbor's second cousin on her father's side. But, even with that solid connection, I can only get information on every other Tuesday.

Honestly, with the new transfer rules and portal we will see a lot of players come and go. College football has become college basketball with the constant roster turnovers. Who knows if these are players the coaches felt wouldn't be major contributors or how many of these players felt they should be starters so now they want to transfer.

It probably says a lot that most of our transfers aren't going to other FBS programs or getting better offers. For example, Robinson to Texas State, J.D. Harris going to Chattanooga, Maximillian Thrower to Morgan St, Caleb Wright to Northern Michigan, etc.

That's not hard when when we went 0-6. Doesn't make any of those better programs. Temple went 1-6 last year, does that mean Texas St and Chattanooga are better overall programs? I don't think they are. Temple has been relatively successful the last 5-7 years, same as NIU being one of the top G5s the last two decades.

I don't think they will be. Maybe Texas State years from now since Texas has so much HS talent and is experiencing huge population and economic growth. All these issues with the state of Illinois (decreased university funding, population decrease, corruption, etc.) are not doing NIU any favors.

That’s tragic and unfortunate. And while I know it’s hard to condone that behavior, at the same time it was really really fun too.

It happens.

Most of the guys leaving have to go FCS because they didn’t get any playing time at NIU. But many of them are just are guys who are rightfully buried on the depth chart. It’s the decent or guys with potential I wonder about not getting a fair chance because they weren’t Hammock recruits: Cole, Love, Goston, Henderson and Mattox. I’m sure every coach tends to want to develope their guys. So these players might feel that and it’s why they’re leaving.

Honestly Cole is the only guy I can’t figure why hammock didn’t use him.

The rest all had reasons. Love was “fast” but not really explosive - too small to be anything but a gadget WR. Henderson was too small to be a hammock safety. Mattox never did anything so I can’t so for sure what the issue is, might just be a talent thing. Goston was a weird one - I know in an interview I know hammock said he was in the mix to start. Then he vanished.
