I thought UConn dropped to FCS. Why would we schedule them when we can add much better FCS programs closer to home.

UConn is not FCS. They are FBS Independent in football.

UConn is independent, not FCS.

So in 2025 we're gonna have NMSU, Akron and either UConn or ULM on our OOC schedule?

Cupcakes for everybody!

Yeah but we will be playing a much tougher schedule in the AAC. 05-stirthepot

Seriously tho... conspicuously missing from the future schedule after next year are games against any AAC Teams. Why schedule them for non conference when you will be playing them in conference. 04-cheers

I realize it takes two to tango, but man... is this the best we can do? At least UConn is a well known name, even if they suck.

I don't like the fact that the UConn games are in November, the "we have more important things to play for to waste much time preparing for a non-conference opponent" window.

From UConn's website:

Quote:The game in 2024 will mark the first time that the Huskies and Blazers meet on the gridiron. It will not be the first time that UConn has played at Legion Field, the home of UAB football. In 2010, the Huskies played in the PapaJohns.com Bowl and defeated South Carolina, 20-7.

Maybe they'll show up at the wrong stadium for an easy forfeit W!

Most players in any 2025 game are presently in high school so it is impossible to forecast the relative quality of teams for that season. We can hope for the best though. UAB will not be playing in Legion Field and "Papa John" is not the pizza company owner either. A lot can change in a decade.

BTW, Is the Papa John oven concession going to be moved to Protective Stadium?

NO. It wasn't even Papa John's at Legion Field any more. It was Little Caesar's. The concessionaire at Protective is in the process of formulating the offerings and won't be taking anything from Legion Field.

I like intersections matchups like UCONN (hopefully they will be solid.) However, I'm baffled to why we would schedule a game in Connecticut in early November as it tends to start getting cold.

On a side note, maybe we can get some MWC (Fresno State, Colorado State, Boise State) or some solid MAC schools home and home.

Seriously? I mean, maybe I'm missing sarcasm because I haven't finished my coffee. But, seriously? I'm baffled as to why someone would actually type that sentence. It's too cold in Connecticut in November to play football? I'm glad you're not our coach, because if you think November in Connecticut is too cold for football, I would tell you to either grow a set or find another sport.
