Meh, it's an Armada, those things get close to single digit mpg going downhill with a strong tailwind. Those poor folks are probably just doing their normal weekly fill up.
Gas in Auburn Alabama has jumped from 2.35 for a gallon of 89 octane to 3.15. So the recipe for getting the United States to a boiling point has added yet another key ingredient which will be seen in all commodities moving forward, inflation, a word those under 40 have never really experienced anywhere but the grocery store.

@priceManipulation
Katrina was really bad wasn't it? It still does not compare to the pandemic or 9/11.
Why do bad things always happen on Republican's watch?
I dont think you will find many people on this board defending W Bush
I wouldn't defend either one of the bush clan's thievin' bastards....
didn't vote for either - hated their policies to ad nauseam
My how the republican party has changed over the years.
You think? What about the hard, open turn to socialism by democrats? You realize democrat icon JFK philosophies would more resemble republicans today than democrats don't you.
IMO, this is nothing more than yet another media induced panic. Drove by four gas stations on the way home. One was completely out of fuel and the other three had lines wraped around every which way. As I drove home a local radio station host said, "May want to stop by and top off the tank after work". THAT, along with both local and national TV, is what is driving the panic buying. People are stupid.

Exactly. Now think for a moment who benefits from a gas shortage and you will have your answer as to who is fanning the flames.

Quote:Gas prices are at their highest national average since late 2014 and with the Colonial Pipeline shutdown, they may continue to rise.
According to the American Automobile Association, the current national average price for just one gallon of gas is $2.99. That is nearly a 9 cent jump since last week when fuel prices averaged around $2.91. As people begin to panic about the cyberattack that shut off the Colonial Pipeline servicing 45 percent of all fuel to states along the East Coast, gas prices are expected to climb in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, the attack on the 5,500-mile pipeline stretching from New Jersey to Houston caused shortages as soon as Monday night in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and other states where drivers were struggling to find fuel. In Virginia, 6.5 percent of gas stations were out of fuel before Tuesday, and at least 1 percent of stations in North Carolina and Florida were completely run dry.
“This shutdown will have implications on both gasoline supply and prices, but the impact will vary regionally. Areas including Mississippi, Tennessee, and the East Coast from Georgia into Delaware are most likely to experience limited fuel availability and price increases, as early as this week,” said Jeanette McGee, AAA spokesperson on Monday. “These states may see prices increase three to seven cents this week.”
The panic over gas even prompted North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper to declare a state of emergency and temporarily rid the state of some regulations to ensure enough fuel is being produced.
“[The] emergency declaration will help North Carolina prepare for any potential motor vehicle fuel supply interruptions across the state and ensure motorists are able to have access to fuel,” Cooper said in a statement.
While the pipeline has a sizeable impact on the increases in fuel costs, some believe gas price hikes are inevitable with President Joe Biden’s radical energy policies.
“In an effort to appease their socialist base, Democrats have waged a radical war on energy. Now, middle-class Americans are paying the price.” National Republican Congressional Committee Spokesman Mike Berg said on Tuesday.

The bolded at the top is literally the only thing that's happening - toilet paper 2.0.
The last paragraph is laughable. As someone earlier said, look around & see who stands to profit from creating panic of a gas shortage (that wouldn't actually be a shortage if they didn't create the panic.) Hint: it's not a political party.
