Buffalo’s New Football Coach
Haven’t seen this reported yet. Buffalo’s Lance Leipold is the new head coach at Kansas and is being replaced by Maurice Linguist (37), co-defensive coordinator from Michigan.

Well, looks like we have 2 MAC coaches in the Big 12. Kansas plays Iowa State on Oct 2nd. Leipold against Campbell. Go Cyclones.

Not sure the relevance. Their current Co DC and Mo didn’t even coach at Michigan last year. The UM LB coach and Co DC was the Ravens LB coach last year and Mo was the DB coach at Dallas in NFL

Just that Coach Mo might be in a better position at Buffalo than in Ann Arbor.

Buffalo has lost about 7-10 players to the transfer portal within the past two weeks since Leipold left, including multiple starters.

As coaches leave, transfers portal increases. Can that be assume that if Candle leaves, some of his players will leave or follow where ever he lands.

That I can see. Michigan fans have already crowned Steve Clinkscale who coached at UT and is now at UK as the savior and a better coach than coach Mo anyhow. Now to see if Michigan can get Clink a nice raise.

Not just starters, but trench starters and that really hurts. Two starters on OL and DL are gone. Throw in graduation and whoever our new line coaches are will be behind the 8 ball this season.

New coaches are usually given a grace period of 1-2 years unless the team is loaded or the
new hire is getting big bucks.

He's going to make more at UB than DC at Michigan? Loaded with connections...will see if it works out I guess.

Candle is not going anywhere. I truly believe he wants to coach the Rockets and only the Rockets. And I believe he finally has the right assistants to get the job done now

Buffalo athletics should be fine. they have been winning bowl games, mens ncaa games, and womens ncaa games in recent years and upgraded most of their facilities recently. New York public universities are more financially stable than the other MAC states and less vulnerable to cuts, funding restrictions and freezes

If he wins a MAC Championship and a P5 offer comes his way , he is leaving. No coach will pass up the big $ the P5 schools can pay.

I think it would have to be the right fit for Candle and his family. He already is the highest paid HC in the MAC...
He probably will take the Pinkel route and bide his time as opposed to a Tim Beckman who jumped at a high $$ big ten job with high expectations but ended up with low end results...

He's making about 100K less. Was set to make 680K at Michigan, Buffalo is reportedly paying him 600 (400 base + other compensation).

Thus far, Candle hasn't done very well, going 17-14 in the last 3 seasons. Patience is wearing thin.
