Saints are also signing FB Sutton Smith, per source. Originally drafted as a LB out of Northern Illinois in sixth round by the Steelers in 2019, he recently made the position switch after bouncing around on practice squads/offseason rosters with Steelers, Jaguars, Seahawks.

RE: Sutton Smith update
Thats cool.
Lots of banter right now about donations, wonder how many of our NFL-grads give back a decent amount at some point?

This is a good move for him. He really should have stayed another year at NIU and played true OLB more, played some MLB, or played some more FB. It would have helped his stock.
He works for me as a FB. I think he can be the type of Swiss Army knife teams could use.

Sutton Smith update
Good luck to Sutton! He is a great guy and a terrific player who did so much for the Huskies. He certainly made a name for himself in college football.

It seems to me that the Saints are the type of team that likes taking chances on a guy like Sutton.

RE: Sutton Smith update
I think the key here, and probably his only shot, is the fullback designation. It's an absolute niche in the NFL and probably less than five teams even use them. If he finds the right situation (and New Orleans with Brees gone might be one) and performs well there is a shot at being a valuable asset. With Hill at QB and Kamara as the primary RB---if Sutt can prove he can block and open holes (even though Hill and Kamara are pretty good creating their own) he just might stick.
Let's hope he's found one of the couple scenarios that he can excel at.

He was recruited to NIU as a RB, right? So at least he has a bit of an old eye for that side of the ball. There are certainly spots on NFL rosters for guys that can block and tackle well (special teams).

Yes he was. But they saw him lay a dude out on an interception, so they moved him to LB. But he sucked at that, so they moved him to DE. And the rest, is history.
Also, RIP Colt Brennan.

I and the rest of the island looked up to him. I can't believe it. Today I listened to a few podcast he was featured in after he hung up the laces. Real chill guy, but he was dealing with the pain of surviving a major car accident on a daily basis. It hurt for him to walk.

Article said he was found unconscious in his 5th month of 6 at a rehab facility. He was doing well rehabbing from addiction until then.
Couldn’t believe he was 37. That 2007 Hawai’i team feels like <10 years ago.

Timmy Chang is a coach at Nevada now, he's from my hometown, same place our OL coach is from. I've read he's been doing pretty well too, hopefully well enough to come back to Hawaii and coach there like his back up did. His backup being Nick Rolovich, who is now the HC at Washington State. It's funny because he's following the same career trajectory as Rolo too, because Rolo was an asst coach at Nevada before becoming HC in Hawaii.
The new coach is okay, but he's not on the level Rolo or June Jones were on. He's a PAC12 bounce back, he runs the spread in uptempo, it's cool but it's not the Fun and Gun. Either way, he's a significant upgrade over Norm Chow, who tried bring the pro style to Hawaii. That guy set the Bows back a decade. He even had two four star QB transfers, one of whom being Taylor Graham from The Ohio State (Yes, he is from Illinois and Yes, he is Ryan Graham's cousin).
