Let's be honest, the only thing these companies are worried about now is the liability side of this virus.

Absolutely, which is why the COO didn't just order everyone back last summer like he wanted to. I don't even think he wants to require the vaccine. That comes from the lawyers.

A company can't legally require the vaccine. It's not approved. If they require it and you take it that's on you.

Not sure about the legality (my company's lawyers seem to disagree with you), but I certainly don't have the resources to take a stand, risk getting fired, and lose my family's only source of income for 6 months plus while I pay an attorney to sue and fight them. Just being realistic and risking myself for my family.

Personally being in the office is better for me. I have 3 kids (two of them preschool aged) and a smallish house with nowhere consistently quiet to go. I prefer the office as long as others are there. Gets very boring when I go now.

I have several friends who work from home now. Not sure how I would feel about it. Never done it, never will be an option at my current gig because we must have a shop/ warehouse where guys can get supplies. We also have an owner's son that is very particular about how many hours everyone works. Deep down, I think it makes him sick to give vacation pay because he cant stand to pay someone not to be working. It drives my wife crazy, but I'll still get 10-15 work calls a day when we're on vacation. That being said, during the whole covid thing, we have operated as nothing is different. No special hours, still working 45-50 hrs a week, no one working from home, no masks required in office, and they wont require anyone to get vaccinated.

Just depends on your situation. My boss was one of those guys in the office from 8am to 8pm every workday. He's realized he can do it from home now with little effect on his production. Of course, he only has one kid still at home (a HS Senior) and a big enough home where he can set up and not be disturbed. He said he's never going back to the office full time.

Me on the other hand, I have two daughters at home so here I am in my garage with noise cancelling headphones. However, I do have access to the beer fridge for the pointless conference calls a big corp makes you attend!

Of course the "companies lawyers" disagree. What does that prove?

Small biz for me. We don't have to do zoom calls. Hell, I've never been on one or even know how to do one. Now, I didn't say the owners were here 45-50 hrs a week. Matter of fact, they're at the lake fishing right now.

If you are an "at will" employee, they can do whatever they want. Right?

that is the thought, but it will get litigated at some point.

No. Not that simple. EEOC, labor laws, and numerous other laws still apply.

Not really, I, at one point in my career, received a nice, large check from a settlement that proves otherwise.

If I were a company and required an employee to get a vaccine they did not want as a condition to keep their job, I would assume I was opening myself up to massive liability if that employee suffered negative reactions to said vaccine.

Still, they could fire you if you didn't take it because they have reserved the right to do so without reason.

Ha! I hear you. Yes, it's been tough working from home with two teenagers virtual learning and my wife also working from home. Been told earliest I'll go back is after Labor Day and then it will only be certain days each week, not every day. Heck, my dog basically chewed up my webcam yesterday so now I'm out a webcam. It's been crazy, no doubt.

Oh I don't turn on my webcam. I took a picture of my setup in the garage and that is what shows up when I'm speaking. Guy down the street works for Merrill Lynch and they've been told that they are not going back until 2021. Crazy.

Same boat, have an 8 and 6 year old homeschooling this year because we didn't want to play the public school fever/exposure game. Seriously Kindergarten kids get a fever every month. So I can't work from home and my work routine has not changed a bit.

Got my first Pfizer shot on Monday. Tuesday felt like I had covid again. Full body aches, 102 fever. Wednesday woke up fine.
