RE: Sain and Edminston
Found this aircheck of Dickie Edwards. WHBQ back then was a high energy rocker. Posting this to bring back some memories for the old timers on here and for those who never heard WHBQ when it was a ratings leader. This is from 1976 during the time that Rick Dees was added to the WHBQ morning show. Thus the reference to DISCO DUCK. https://airchexx.com/dicky-doo-edwards-5...phis-1976/

I hope that he will be wrong about one of his last predictions. He said he didn't think MEMPHIS would ever get in a power 5 conference.
I miss the senior Sails also---70's sports talk was far superior to the drivel on now

The guy was boorish and an absolute egomaniac.
He very well may have been the dean of the Memphis sports/sport talk scene but he made sure knew it.
And in all reality, he wasn't terribly up on sports. He knew the Cards. And Tigers/SEC.
He was a pompous name dropping bore.
I knew him and his family through a mutual friend. He loved Memphis, loved the Tigers, loved writing at the Press Scimitar and loved being on the radio. And he did a better job than any of these current talking heads and he truly cared about this city and our university.
I know a couple of his former cohosts and they disagree wholehardedly

RE: Sain and Edminston
I didn't think this show could get any worse after it was Peter & CJ - but they sure knocked it out of the park on this one! I am probably in their target demographic being a male in my 30's, however, their show is absolutely horrendous.
Is it me, or does it seem like every time Sain speaks it sounds like he is exhaling, while laughing & simultaneously trying to speak on topics he is clueless on? Seriously, listen to the show, if you can tolerate it for five minutes, and when he is trying to hit his talking points (outside of their constant giggling) it literally sounds like that trifecta.
Peter has gotten worse over the years - he is a blow hard political hack at this point, like most of Memphis sports radio.
I never thought I would rank Wolo & Stats as the best show on 56, but here I am as the target demographic, ranking a show with hosts twice my age as their best option.

I’ve noticed that in the past few days they have stopped giggling so much and are now trying to play it straight which is a marked improvement.

He is smarter than me. But that's not saying much.
