Bigger point, are we or are we not against people suffering work consequences for off the job behavior that isn't illegal. (Even if it is completely whack)?
If the response is "but whatabout....?" then clearly you want cancel culture to continue a never ending game of tit for tat.
It is a slippery slope. Within some line of reasoning there has to be a position where cancel culture crosses a line. Defining the line is the problem.
- Drug testing identifies something that you [most likely] engage in while not at work, But if you fail a drug test you can lose your job. That is not cancel culture per`se but it kind of dances on that same line.
- If this woman went to a job interview for that teaching position and was spewing off those same views and sentiments, I am pretty sure she is not getting that job.
If you keep your private life and views private that is one thing, but once you put them out there for all to see, you cannot put that back in the box. Once you get a job, you don't get to keep it for life (or as long as you want at least) no matter what. You are representing a lot of different things when you are out in public including:
- Your family
- Your employer
- Your neighborhood [possibly]
- Your town/city
- Yourself
You are entitled to your view and you are afforded freedom of speech. Freedom comes with a price however. You are subject to the free speech and views of others who have the right to separate themselves from you (within certain legal limitations).
Open your mouth at your own risk.
Most of which I agree.
For example, if folks on here who call Harris derogatory names, like whore or kumswallow, or things like that...should they lose their jobs if their identity was discovered and published to the public?
Certainly, if a dude who middle manager at a Fed Ex or IP were to go on twitter and rant about Kumswallow, street whore, or d!ck swallower dude would lose his job.
Partly his fault because he chose to go public.
If message board ID were publicized, the person wasn't saying this knowing it would be outed.
Does that make a difference? And where would it stop?
Anonymity is a pretty powerful thing. It allows you to say things without repercussion or true responsibility, but it does also allow you to get things off your chest. And to answer your question, I would say no, most would never say things like that publicly.
Some of this is "sport" to people or an outlet to just say whatever you want and blow off steam and frustrations. I take my share of jabs a Harris and her tales of sleeping her way to the top. It is frustrating to me, not so much that she did that, but the hypocrisy of how she judges others - like her comments regarding Kavanaugh for example. Self reflection is probably THE most scarce human characteristic in all of politics and most of life.
Everyone is hypocritical about something in their life - everyone. Until that stops, things like the event that started this dialogue will always be met with a helpin' heapin' of cancel culture.

No, what I don't want is someone who is in education pushing views like that expressed in the video and that expressed in another thread by a professor berating a student who referred to cops as hero's in a classroom or school setting and you damn well know they do that.
So, I assume you would be against a pro-life professor referring to pro-life people as baby killers or the opposite.
Bottom line is the lady is a lunatic. However, should people doing legal, private citizen actions lose jobs or be exposed to the public for their insane, yet legal behavior?
But he wasn't doing that now was she...
As was mentioned she'd done this before and is known for it. At some point a legal threshold has to be passed whether it be filing false reports, harassment or something else. And she gave up a privacy claim when she recorded it and put it on social media.
RE: Teacher goes on racist rant against deputy who pulls her over
She should lose her job and be ostracized by everyone. People like this deserve to live a horrible existence. I can't imagine what a little POS her son will become.
RE: Teacher goes on racist rant against deputy who pulls her over
You know, if she'd have just shut her yap I was about to be sympathetic to her harassment angle with a total bullsh!t traffic stop for being on her cellphone. Come on, man.
But she just had to go and let her true colors show.
I'd bet a paycheck that being a teacher, if she voted, she voted for Biden. But the TV says that only republicans white supremacist, racist bigots.
RE: Teacher goes on racist rant against deputy who pulls her over
Just another progressive self important moron. I'm betting she's teaching at some community college and hoping to move up to the big stage. She certainly has the attitude. Or, maybe she's a public school teacher who is a union officer.
I gotta give kudos to the cop, though. Stayed cool and I loved his response when she told him she was a teacher. "Congratulations."
RE: Teacher goes on racist rant against deputy who pulls her over
I just read on Oan that the woman is Black. My, my, she's showing the same characteristics of White racists and is calling the cop a racist and a murderer. Wow, it took a LOT of self control for that cop not to retaliate in a heated exchange. When the woman told the cop that he'll never be White he could have said, "neither will you". LOL
It's a good thing the cop called a supervisor or it could have gotten out of hand. I think she wanted an excuse to sue but instead got a citation. Good for her she got her just reward. Oh, by the way, Blacks nowadays can biatch about White privilege when in reality they're the ones that have the privilege. How many times have they on tv spewed BullSchiff and gotten away with it just because they're Black. Everyone is afraid of them now.
P.s: If she had been a firefighter in EP she'd would probably be looking for another job even if she was "off-duty".

This we have to disagree on 100%. Id rather see them pulling over idiots talking on their phones while driving than almost any other traffic issue.
Idiots on their phones start thinking they are in a phone booth and nothing exits anywhere else around them.
Going from 65 down to 45 back up to 65, swerving over here and there, just a complete mess.

Personally, I don’t care if she loses her job but I do want the video to be shown to her supervisors where she works and if in fact she is a teacher the video should be shown to the school board or who ever runs this place of education and the parents to all the students in her class(es). If she and her superiors can take the blowback then carry on with the looney tune lady.

I agree. This video is enlightening and most likely reveals a deeper level of mental instability which might preclude her from being around children/young adults.
It was funny when he simply asked for licence. She went from 200% nasty about driving 38 and not speeding, to stuttering and stammering and explaining lol. Oh, eh, but, i was, it......But she quickly regained her footing and then accelerated back up to 200% nasty.

RE: Teacher goes on racist rant against deputy who pulls her over
Is this what a Community College Freshman English teacher should be? How about focusing on the fundamentals, give consistent and appropriate feedback, and leave the social engineering to the mainstream media and government. If a mediocre kid with an associate degree goals lands in her class, she could and would literally destroy his or her ability to complete the 2-year degree. Call her out for what she is, an entitled SJW that throws race around to legitimize her position of authority. I hope Kalunda gets a terminal case of pink eye and develops a little humility and appreciation for how fortunate she is; a barely functioning Freshman English teacher so disorganized that her students are confused and frustrated about her grading criteria, where they stand in the class, and what actions they need to take to either secure or improve upon their existing grade. Eff her. She is there to serve them, not vice-versa.
