But according to the rules of the day they weren’t even the 2nd best team in the SEC. They did win the division. They say back and rested while LSU had to win the SEC championship game. And I think this happened again with Bama not winning the division and yet made the playoffs.

The false premise is that the playoff is about determining a national champion. College football does not lend itself to a playoff. Never has.

And you think the NCAA bb tourney winner is always "the best team"? Hardly.
Same for MLB, NFL, etc.
But in ALL other sports, the agreement is that the best 15% or more teams will compete in a post-season playoff to determine THE national champ.

I dont care about bb in any form or the NFL at all. College football was special in that it could have multiple national champions with legitimate claims. Like you said, if it's not " the best team" what difference does it make other than to diminish a unique aspect of college football.

All things end I suppose. Minor league NFL pretending to be college football interests me less and less.

I can see why you, in particular, would prefer a system rooted in opinion & internet chatter opposed to one based on performance & settled on the court.

That's just dumb.

It's not basketball or baseball. You can't trot out players for 16 games and there will be a lot of injuries and players opting out. It has to be practical. With your scenario, in 2019, Miami Of Ohio makes it in as the winner of the MAC with an 8-5 record. They lost 5 games by the following point totals...

24 Iowa
22 Cincinnati
71 Ohio State
22 Western Michigan
14 Ball State

In a 16 team playoff, you would have 5 out of the 16 teams outside of P5 conferences, and multiple teams in the top 15 excluded at the expense of teams that aren't ranked, that nobody cares about. This will never fly because it makes no sense on any level. There is a good chance that 75% of the first two rounds will generate dismal ratings. You will also have grossly lopsided matchups in the first two rounds where you risk a lot of injuries.

8 is the number. It's not too many games, and you have a non P5 participant. Give the G5 an additional spot in a NY6 game, and it becomes as fair and as competitive as anyone could hope for.

Yawn--with apologies to RR--there you go again. You are always wanting to screw the little guys like little ole MEMPHIS.

A playoff without every conference represented is not what the average fans want . Like I have shared with you numerous times--the Miami of Ohio's and the LIL O MEMPHIS'S only want a shot. The fans of the little guys and the cities/towns they are in ,wouldn't care if the game was projected as being a lopsided matchup. Heck STAMMERS if you think LIL OLE MEMPHIS or Miami Ohio wasn't gonna cover the large spread against the Alabama's of the world---just lay the points.

As for players opting out. If it is a true national playoff--I think few would opt out. As for injuries --that statement is silly---heck that could happen in any game during the season---or even practice. Heck if a player is worried about that--why play at all---just opt out like Coxie and become out of sight and out of mind

Since you don't have a brain big enough to process any kind of common sense, we will go in a different direction to try and help you. Explain how you would seed and play the 11 team AAC conference playoff. How would you determine the AAC champion?

Don't even think about screwing USF and ECU out of the opportunity to compete for a national title. Screwing the little guys is out of the question.

There already is an AAC conference playoff just as there is in every other conference. It is called the regular season, if you lose to many games you are eliminated from the championship game. If you win that game many of us believe you have a more legitimate claim to be in a national championship tournament than a team that doesn't even make its' conference championship game. This time try to keep your response cogent.

My answer to your ? is ---WHO CARES .

As to the number of games and teams that you seem to think will lead to dismal ratings/ more injury's/ more opt outs----you need to inform division 2 FB that they are doing it all wrong---with the 28? team playoff they have

It's hard when you can't repeat the same dumb line over and over and you actually have to try and put a coherent thought together. Of course you don't care. Always trying to screw the little guy.

You are the one wanting to screw the LIL OLE MEMPHIS'S of the world. Your reason being , that the games would be grossly lopsided to allow the little guys like LIL O MEMPHIS/Miami of Ohio etc to actually be allowed at the big boys table. We should know our place in the world and keep using paper plates and plastic forks.

Why would/should I care how they determine the AAC representative ---as long as we get in --WHO CARES

We would have been in 2 years ago, genius, and the AAC winner has been in the last 4 years. With your dumb idea, teams who you say you don't care about, would get in. Get a smart 5 year old to explain it to you.

We would have been in 2 years ago ? The AAC winner has been in the last 4 years ? What teams did I say I don't care about ?

AGAIN you are the guy who don't want to give the LITTLE GUYS like Miami Ohio and LIL OLE MEMPHIS a shot at the title-----and your reason being that LIL OLE MEMPHIS and Miami Ohio games would be grossly lopsided

I can see it now ---the cities of Oxford and MEMPHIS publicly plead with the Redhawks and Tigers to forgo the games because the games will be grossly lopsided . The TIGERS counter with big boy names such as --( Alabama--Florida ---Southern California---Auburn--THE COMMUNISTS---Ole Piss--) etc etc that LIL OLE MEMPHIS have already beaten. They say all we want is a shot.

The Mayors reply but but but there is a guy on Dockery Finch by the name of STAMMERS that claims that the LIL O GUYS like us---don't deserve to be on the field with the big boys. He also says ratings will be low----and our vastly inferior athletes will all be injured .

The teams reply that the STAMMERS guy must have never heard of a man by the name of David----or a hockey team that played Russia ---or a guy named BROADWAY JOE---or a guy called Rocky---or the term UPSET in sports---they say ask LSU about LIL OLE TROY---or Michigan about LIL OLE APP ST

Just to make it fair --the big boys can rest the first and second teams--and rest them for the next game/round. They won't need them for the LITTLE guys now will they

Only two teams play in the playoff, and you and Jethro think a team with 5 losses should be in it even after losing to Ohio State by 70 points That's not much of A playoff. You and Jethro always screwing the little guy.

Yes, the fans want to see playoff games that are blowouts where none of the good players are playing. That makes about as much sense as all of your other gibberish.

You need to inform the decisionmakers that they are doing it all wrong. The solution is to cut down the regular season to 9 games, have the top teams sit all of their good players for the first two rounds, destroy every single bowl game, destroy ratings until it gets down to the final 8 teams, because some backwards hayseed said so. I will inform your grade 3 english grammar and spelling teacher that she was doing it all wrong.

Hatred of Penny ? I am the Penny DEFENDER. When people on here were saying that Penny needed more experience ---that he needed to hire an assistant coach with much experience ----that he (even after being in BB his entire life)--didn't know how or couldn't install an offense . I am the Penny defender that stated that Penny knows as much about BB as any coach --period.

No one cares about bowl games. They are a glorified exhibition game. If there were a true national playoff where every conference was represented then ---if somehow they tied in the bowls --then bowls would become more popular or relevant .

You content that the AAC would have been in the last 4 years if there was an 8 team playoff. I say SQUIGGY, that you are very very gullible --because without a GUARANTEE that the little guys get a shot at the title---then they will ALWAYS (just like the last 4 years) be just outside the final cut----without a GUARANTEE the little guys will always get screwed----and continue to bring you pleasure---because LIL OLE MEMPHIS and the Miami Ohio's of the world sure don't want to play in a grossly lopsided game.

Yes, the fans want to see playoff games that are blowouts where none of the good players are playing. That makes about as much sense as all of your other gibberish.

We would have been in the playoff 2 years ago. The winner of the AAC would have been in the playoff the last 4 seasons. Again; get a smart 5 year old to explain it to you.

Quote:AGAIN you are the guy who don't want to give the LITTLE GUYS like Miami Ohio and LIL OLE MEMPHIS a shot at the title.

You are confused Jethro. As I noted, we would have played in it 2 years ago. You want Miami of Ohio to be in the playoff, but when it comes to your hatred of Penny, you don't quite see it that way, do you?

Jethro complains incessantly about trophy society, but thinks Miami Of Ohio should be in the playoff and still doesn't understand that we would have made it if there was an 8 team playoff.

Quote:you need to inform division 2 FB that they are doing it all wrong---with the 28? team playoff they have

Yes, you are the Penny defender. That little example of self awareness is typical of how clueless you are about everything.

The school isn't a little guy, but you are Jethro. The whole point is a guarantee for the top G5 team. We are debating and you don't even understand the debate. Also, pick a dumb opinion and stick with it.

Jethro A:
Repeating incessantly that we are a trophy based society, and you want Miami of Ohio level teams in the playoff, and a playoff with half the participants, not even ranked in the top 25.

Jethro C:
The fans want to see blowouts in games with most of the good players resting and with a significant increase in injuries.

Pick a Jethro and go with it.

SQUIGGY SQUIGGY SQUIGGY ---you are so naive ---the top 25 is skewed and biased against the LITTLE GUYS---just like you are.

They will simply continue to rank the LITTLE GUYS in the initial poll so low they will never crack the top 8 playoff .

Without a GUARANTEE of some sort to take the SQUIGGY BIAS--the human bias out of the equation --then the little guys will continue to get screwed and bring you pleasure

8 would be better than 4---12 better than 8---16 better than 12

Take the human SQUIGGY BIAS against the LITTLE GUYS out -and give a GUARANTEE to the G-5

Better yet let EVERY CONFERENCE in the playoffs.
