I hate the Steelers, so I would feel gross about him going there. That said, it's probably a good landing spot. Tons of organizational stability, which is important for a young QB.

I am a Steelers fan, and I would prefer Dez go to another team. UNLESS Dez REALLY improves his passing this coming season.

Have the Bearcats ever had two players picked in round #1 before?

UC has only had two first rounders ever:

Greg Cook-‘69 (Bengals)
Bob Bell ‘71 (Lions)

Dudes, we're going to get a lot of coverage for our beloved program this year in part because of Rid. IMO, if he has a fantastic season he may be a top five pick. Look who's the featured picture in the CBS article...

2022 NFL Mock Draft: Vikings find Kirk Cousins' replacement as five quarterbacks go in top 13

It should be another quality QB class in 2022; the Lions, Eagles, Raiders and WFT also grab one early

Rid First Round #13 to the Vikes & Gardner #29 to the Ravens

Yeah...you want something that could genuinely alter the trajectory of Bearcats football for generations? Give Fickell 4 guys who he developed drafted in the first two rounds this coming season (Ridder, Gardner, Saunders, and Whyle) along with a playoff berth to lay on the table in recruiting...he just might turn us into the next Clemson after all.

It's so true.

I think back on Miami (FL) decades ago as a somewhat obscure program and remember how a couple of great coaches and Florida talent built a national championship program there. Different times for sure, but who could have imagined the day Fickell stood at the podium after the Tuberville years that UC would soon have an undefeated season, conference championship, top ten ranking, and NY6 bowl?

In the coming couple of months, envious haters from other schools will join a chorus of talking heads of sports suggesting this will be Fickell's last year at Cincinnati. It could always happen that way. But it appears UC has this time, by design or a confluence of fortunate circumstances, built a situation that could endure. An Ohio guy who values his family's well being, living in the best city in the state and building a top ten program with many Ohio recruits. He could stay longer than many imagine.

In year 4, Dabo made the Orange Bowl and lost.
In year 4, Fick made the Peach Bowl and lost.

In year 5, Dabo won the Peach Bowl, year 8 took Clemson to the BCS.

If UC goes 11-1 or 12-0*-- they probably end up in the Peach Bowl and Fick has a chance to emulate Dabo once more with a win.

* Outside chance of BCS-- but I really feel the playoff committee chairman wants nothing to do with a non P5 team in the 4 team playoff.

RE: WAY WAY WAY Too Early 2022 NFL Draft
I have a hard time imagining the committee saying no to an undefeated UC team that beats Notre Dame and a 9-win Indiana squad.

If they're at all smart, they're looking for a worthy team like UC to prove that they DO give a chance to G5 teams. It might put off the expansion to an 8-team playoff by a few more years and extend the playoff committee's relevance.

I agree but the thing in our favor is more and more of the sports media types and fans want to see a "cinderella" or at least someone other than Bama, Ohio St., Clemson, Oklahoma, etc., in the CFP. If we go undefeated with our schedule then that takes away what they said kept us out last season - we didn't play any P5 teams in non-conference. In any event, let's beat Indiana and Notre Dame first before thinking too hard on it. We also have to run the table against teams in our own conference who are familiar with us and ready to take down Big Fick and Co.
