The new rules will cost us some of our best players. I do think we will get more talent than we lose overall. There are a lot more 2nd and 3rd string players from bigger programs that will be looking for playing time than small program stars looking to move up. My uneducated guess is for every Fair that moves up five or ten backups will move down.
There’s never a bitter feeling toward the player, either. I just hate seeing somebody with millions of recruiting advantages reaping the rewards of our development on top of recruiting in our backyard. As someone else said, that’s another draftee that won’t be listed as from UAB.
Is it hypocritical to say this, given we pulled him from Indiana state? Idk

In a weird way it could help in recruiting. If you go to UAB you have a better shot of making a premier program as junior or senior than you do going to sunbelt/CUSA team X
I've always felt that grad transfers are a bit different than normal undergrad transfers.
People outside of football usually go to a different school for graduate school - why shouldn't an athlete?
Sometimes it's good for a change of pace for graduate school.
I wish him the best of luck.
And like others said, we will get our fair share of P5 and other transfers as well. Just look at how well our basketball transfers have worked out and hope that our new P5 football transfers turn out well this season too.
The way I look at it, Tony Fair did what he came to UAB to do. He played well, was a good teammate, won a championship, got his degree. Mission accomplished. Good luck, hope he makes the NFL.

I enjoyed watching him on defense and what the other teams had to do to stop/move/play around him. One of my all time favorites. Good Luck Tony!
Go Blazers!
