Democrats Took a Gut Punch in a Texas Special Election
Quote:You didn’t hear much about it, but Texas‘ 6th Congressional District held a special election last night to fill recently passed Rep. Ron Wright’s seat. The two winners, Susan Wright and Jake Ellzey, will now go head to head in a runoff.

But what really makes this a gut punch for Democrats is that both of the above names are Republicans. It was a complete lockout in a district that Democrats had not only hoped to compete in, but also flip blue. Nancy Pelosi can’t be pleased.

There are several things to note here. This was only a Trump +3 district in 2020, and it’s exactly the kind of suburban district that Democrats have been very bullish on making further gains in. Despite that, the Republicans not only took back ground but took back the entire battlefield, perhaps signaling a return to normal voting patterns in some of these places that were previously trending blue.

Unlike in the past, the media are going to downplay this. When it’s a Democrat winning a toss-up race in a special election, that’s spread far and wide as proof of a coming blue wave. When it’s a Republican, it’s just too soon to tell. We all know how it goes, but this win does matter, regardless of how it’s spun. The GOP needed to show it could make inroads into the suburban districts that left the party from 2018-2020. This was a good data point.

It’s also worth noting that there was a rabid Never Trumper candidate in this race. That person got glowing magazine spreads and tons of MSNBC and CNN time. Yet, they won less than 3% of the vote.

Let this be a lesson to Republicans. You don’t have to talk about Trump all the time or be full-blown MAGA, but if your entire political identity revolves around being “anti-Trump,” Republican voters will respond accordingly. That’s doubly true if you spend all your time on left-wing cable news bashing your own party. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger should probably take some notes after last night because they are headed for the same kind of trouble if either garners a decent primary challenger.

Even more bad news for Pelosi is the fact that two house members from PA are both going to run for the senate. Without mail-in and ballot fraud, dems are likely to lose both of those seats.

Cheri Bustos, who headed the House Democratic campaign arm amid big 2020 losses, is retiring

Quote:Rep. Cheri Bustos of Illinois, who headed the House Democrats' campaign arm in 2020 when the party unexpectedly lost seats, will retire from the House after the 2022 elections.

“Today, I’m announcing I will not seek reelection after completing this term,” Bustos said in a video statement. “It will be a new decade, and I feel it’s time for a new voice.”

Bustos was first elected to the House in 2012, after a career as a reporter and then in the healthcare sector. She got to the House by beating the late GOP Rep. Bobby Schilling in a northwest Illinois district.

Bustos was well-liked among her House Democratic colleagues and won the position of chairwoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. With then-President Donald Trump unpopular in many quarters, House Democrats were expected to expand the majority they won in 2018 after eight years in the minority. However, Democrats ended up losing a dozen seats, leaving them with the narrowest House majority since the 1930s.

Cheri Bustos was given a (mildly) gerrymandered district in 2012, but it’s still been moving in a Red-direction. Then she was scapegoated for the Dems’ underperformance in House races 6 months ago. So it’s probably the right time to step aside.

Trump mentioned that he would wait until the mid-terms until he announces whether he'll run or not.

Nope. In fact, thats why I dont think dems want to open back up. THey need to drag the covid lockdowns out for another year to try to perform their fraud again in the midterm.

Frankly, they should just get used to it. President Housplant didnt get 82 million LEGIT votes---and anyone who doesnt have an IQ hovering around the mid two figure range knows that. There was no mandate to this vote other than---dont tweet too much and be less divisive. The tin political ear shown by President Houseplant and the Democrat leadership's massive left wing Socialist overreach is nothing less than stunning.

The people arent there. The people dont want it. Its not what President Houseplant ran on. Its not what the American people voted for. They wanted an end to the daily Trump controversy. They didnt want a new circus on the border. The didnt want a new radical plan to destroy the mechanism that promotes compromise in the Senate.
They dont want two new states. They dont want the second amendment repealed. The dont want $5 a gallon gas. They dont want to start sending jobs overseas again. They dont want only branch of government they trust to become a new partisan battlefield that gets "repacked" everytime a new president is elected.

The midterms are going to be sobering for anyone who thinks Progressives represent some sort of American mainstream.

If the republicans get on the stick and pull their heads out of their asses. So far, they don't seem to be getting the word. 2022 and 2024 are now the elections that matter. 2020 is old news, like it or not.

So for now, resist as strongly as possible, and lay the groundwork for winning in 2022 and 2024.

Will be harder for Dems to cheat in 435 districts as opposed to the state level where they can commit voter fraud in 1 large inner city and flip the state (see Philadelphia Atlanta Milwaukee and Detroit 2020), but dont underestimate their level of corruption. Especially when they have the media running cover for them. The GOP needs to get it fixed on the state levels before 2022.

I don't know enough about the area but:
1.) Red probably helped by the Blue-controlled Senate/House/Presidency.
2.) District's been Red since 1983. Would need massive demographic change to go Blue
3.) Never Trump Republican candidate got 3 but ya gotta add that 3% to the Dems %. Still just 32% tho.

MSM would remind you that a Trump +3 district is purple and a tossup.

And the dems (and never trumpers) just got ass-annihalated there. literally 100 days after f*cknut* was inaugurated in front of a dozen people, mr 80million votes* cant even drum up enough votes in a tossup district to cover 1/3rd of the vote.

ALso, this district didnt have mail-in fraud or dominion machines anywhere near it.

RE: Democrats Took a Gut Punch in a Texas Special Election
Quote:Republicans in Southlake, Texas, a community northwest of Dallas, swept local elections and took over the school board as voters rebelled against a proposal to instate critical race theory in school curriculum.

“On one side, progressives argued that curriculum and disciplinary changes were needed to make all children feel safe and welcome in Carroll, a mostly white but quickly diversifying school district,” NBC News reported. “On the other, conservatives in Southlake rejected the school diversity plan as an effort to indoctrinate students with a far-left ideology that, according to some, would institutionalize discrimination against white children and those with conservative Christian values.”

Republicans blew out Democrats by a roughly 70% to 30% margin to take two spots and control of the Carroll Independent School District board, two city council seats, and the Southlake mayor’s seat. The election results, finalized Sunday, showed a ballooning voter turnout about 3-times larger than past local elections.

The landslide for conservative Republicans came nine months after progressives on the school board introduced a plan to instate critical race theory in the local school curriculum and force educators to take diversity training and other so-called anti-racism courses.

The election “was a referendum on those who put personal politics and divisive philosophies ahead of Carroll ISD students and families, and their common American heritage and Texas values,” Southlake attorney Hannah Smith, who beat local business consultant Ed Hernandez for a spot on the school board, told NBC News in a statement.

“The voters have come together in record-breaking numbers to restore unity,” Smith said. “By a landslide vote, they don’t want racially divisive critical race theory taught to their children or forced on their teachers. Voters agreed with my positive vision of our community and its future.”

President Joe Biden and other progressive Democratic lawmakers are pushing schools to adopt critical race theory curriculum, which teaches that inequality is a result of systemic racism. The New York Times’ “1619 Project” is arguably the best-known example of critical race theory applied to the study of U.S. history. The project argues that slavery continues to infect almost every institution in the United States, resulting in systemic racism against black Americans and other minorities.

The Biden administration is pushing schools to bring critical race theory curriculum into their classrooms. Last month, the Department of Education proposed a rule that school districts that adopt critical race theory, the “1619 Project,” and other so-called “anti-racism” studies would be prioritized for federal loans and grants.

U.S. historians have lodged numerous complaints about the “1619 Project,” which claims the true founding of the U.S. should be marked at the moment the first slave ship arrived in America in 1619.

“I was disturbed by what seemed like a very unbalanced, one-sided account, which lacked context and perspective on the complexity of slavery, which was clearly, obviously, not an exclusively American institution, but existed throughout history,” Princeton University’s James McPherson said in 2019. “And slavery in the United States was only a small part of a larger world process that unfolded over many centuries.”
