Guess it not 100% based on the level of education you get.

Curious what they use to measure a universities quality.

Yeah---Navy is as rigorous and academically honorable as a school can be---but the specialization and uniqueness of its mission is always going to make it difficult to compare to other more typical universities. For instance, in US News and World Report---Navy is ranked with the national liberal arts schools---I dont know---lol---but that just doesnt sound right to me....
Eh, you can make a case that the service academies fit the classic definition of a "liberal arts education" -- as opposed to a modern definition of a liberal arts degree. Combining the sciences and the humanities, teaching one to think, and molding a student to be a good well-rounded citizen.
Mr. Jefferson would have liked our curriculum, I dare say.

I was an history major, but my degree says "Bachelor of Science" because it included mathematics through Calculus III and Differential Equations, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, systems engineering, thermodynamics, and more as core curriculum. I daresay other core courses like leadership, law for the junior officer, and others fit the classic definition of a liberal arts education, too.

I daresay there would be a lot less college debt if those were in the core cirriculum everywhere.

My experience at a Liberal Arts College was the complete opposite, forced me to take useluss humanities courses as a STEM major.

The answer is sorta. Yes---UAB has its own BOD as an independent institution in the University of Alabama System, but that board is in turn controlled by The University of Alabama System Trustee Board which has 14 members. Eleven of the 14 on that board are Bama grads, 2 are UAB grads, and one is an Auburn grad....so the narrative that Bama can no longer exert any influence over UAB is at best misleading. The situation is certainly improved over what it was---but its not as "cured" as some would lead you to believe. That said--I think the political backslash was harsh enough that I doubt you'd see the Trustee's try anything as radical as pushing the elimination of the football program any time soon.

I was present, the students were sent home for the end
of the semester drung that game and only fans allowed. However, Tulane students still dont really care enough to go to most of the games so your still correct in spirit.

Since when did an athletic conference actually make a decision on their members based upon a school's academic standing? They only give lip service when they don't consider a school or to tout the conference.

In any rankings you use USF has made great strides in moving up. I must give credit to President Genshaft. She had a vision on improving USF academics that many said it was unattainable but she stuck to her guns and USF is much better because of her. Let’s see if our new President can continue the rise.

This is so easy.

B1G adding 2 AAU schools. It could have added Cincinnati which is better in football an basketball. It could have added SMU for a huge market and great recruiting.

PAC-12 added Colorado (AAU) which has not been strong in football for many years.

AAU Standings
Indicators of AAU Members

The Association of American Universities(AAU) divides indicators
used in assessments of current and potential new members into
two phases. Phase I indicators are used as the primary indicators.
Phase II indicators provide additional important calibrations. All
indicators are tabulated as both actual and normalized per faculty
where feasible.

Phase I Indicators

Competitively funded federal research
Membership in the National Academies (NAS, NAE, IOM)
Faculty awards, fellowships, and memberships
Citations

Phase II Indicators

USDA, state, and industrial research funding
Doctoral education
Postdoctoral appointees

zero interest in adding UAB and nothing about world rankings helps their case in an athletic conference.

I wouldn't expect Tulane students to know UAB has a undergraduate school. I do expect you to be smarter though. Maybe I have set my expectations for you a little to low and should set them even lower.
