Best party bar in Louisville is in the East End on New Lagrange rd "Joe's Older than Dirt " live bands Friday and Saturday nights. Great Food, lots of Tvs, large covered outdoor patio.

But THE bar for U of L students, especially for game watching, would be The Granville. During U of L games there would be a couple of pep band people (I always assumed alums) that would really add to the atmosphere playing fight song type songs during timeouts throughout the game. Really good pizza too. And everything from cheap beer, to high end beer on tap. It is a bit of a dive bar, at least it was.

I have no idea if this is still the hot spot, but it's closer to campus than Magnolia Bar, and I would think would still be a hot spot for campus.

Unless it didn't survive COVID. A possibility I suppose.

Man I’m pushing 60 and I have never been there. Honestly I don’t know anyone that’s ever gone there.

To see Mag Bar pop up as the best bar in Louisville on any list is a little strange to say the least.

I would have guessed Zanzibar or maybe one of the neighborhood dives like Creekers, The Bambi or The Back Door.

I've never heard of Magnolia bar either . Like I posted outside of the Highlands bars which unfortunately has seen some violence there recently, Joe's older than Dirt has quite the following and large Crowds on game days and normal weekends with live music.

Mag Bar holds a special place in my heart as I spent my formative years there, but to clarify it’s a punk dive bar mainly for the “outsiders” of the world - and I mean that in a good way. The owners are actually huge Louisville fans but I’m not sure this is the place to go for a typical traveling football tailgater.

Granville is without a doubt the UofL bar where you’ll see what you’d usually expect at a college bar - frats, sororities, normies. You’ll never see a frat boy at Mag Bar, lol.

Backstreet's in Clemson was always an underrated venue, IMO.
