RE: Baseball: Weekend home series vs. W&M
That is the problem. They aren’t just getting after it. If so, it would work out. You can’t play with a piano on back. You have to play well with expectations and that means you focus and step your game up. And, you have to play with focus and energy.

They had a chance in the 8th to have a big inning but it should have not come to that. They had 27 outs to work with. Credit their pitching for not allowing walks. And, they came out of the gates. We didn’t.

Winning baseball is threatening for several innings and chipping away. They have another chance tomorrow. And, I think we will have a better offensive showing. Our pitching is good overall. It comes down to getting after it from inning 1.

Figured you might go the classy route tonight. Well played. Congrats on the well-earned W. Strain is killing it.

We keep giving up big, early leads and seem to always be fighting back. Yes we got the wins over Coastal, but we had to rally from four down late to do it. Seems like walks have been our achiiles heel. When we keep them at a minimum, we win.

Yep. My (likely dumb or way off) take on all this: We performed well in non-conference because opponents didn’t really have the “book” on us that CAA South teams currently do.

This was the 4th time W&M faced us. They’re intimately aware of our weaknesses. On offense, this was their 2nd time facing Roupp, so they had a solid plate approach ready to go and hit the ground running early.

Meanwhile, on defense, by not allowing us to get baserunners to start innings, we couldn’t SAC bunt like we could against Coastal.

If you are planning on watching the CAA Baseball championship on Flo at the end of the month go ahead and subscribe today. Your subscription will cover the whole month.

They emailed me a 20% off coupon code when I canceled after my last 1 month subscription that I was able to use and get it down to $10 for the month of May

I don’t understand why any of us encourage any others to participate in that disaster of a production.

RE: Baseball: Weekend home series vs. W&M
Hawks have a potential big inning brewing in the 2nd! Brandenburg led off the inning with a single to right. Then, after a bit of a controversial moment where Lifrieri was hit by the pitch while squaring to bunt, but the pitch was in the zone and thus ended up a strike, Lifrieri responded with an infield single, and both runners advanced on a throwing error by W&M SS Matt McDermott!

2nd & 3rd, no one out for Bridges.

Bridges K's looking on a great 3-2 breaking ball.

Pitarra comes through with an RBI single through the infield to the left side!

1st & 3rd, 1 out for Mongero. 1-0 Hawks!

Hawks have 1 in in the 5th, with the bases loaded and no one out. 3-0!

No hits in the inning yet. The run came after a walk, a SAC Bunt E1, and 2 Hit Batters!

Smith has tossed 6 terrific shutout innings. I don't see anyone warming to replace him in the 7th.
