Students
Alumni
Townies
Discounts
FOMO
Tailgates

Be specific and talk about your school or others you know. TV doesn't lie. If you claim you are sold out but it looks 50% full. Why? All inside in clubs, high no show rate, TV shows visiting side, school inflating attendance?

I'm not sure if this is referring to football attendance or any type of attendance, but I will assume that it is the latter.

University of Montevallo- historically, our two strongest sports are baseball and men's soccer. Attendance is made up of students, some alumni, parents of athletes, and probably a few townies. We have a YouTube channel dedicated to televising our sports, and that is it. No additional tv or radio coverage.

As for reasons why our attendance is lackluster, probably the biggest reason is no one is very familiar with our opponents, and the school in the past didn't do a very good job promoting Montevallo Falcons games. The only way I found out about the games was from word of mouth from friends on the team or just happened to see a game being played. In addition, a lot of students and others were interested in the Alabama or Auburn games since they are pretty much the "pro" teams for this state. To the best of my knowledge, no one ever tailgated at a Montevallo Falcons game.

I will cover the other teams that I follow in another post or I will edit this one later.

Primarily Football but any talk is okay.

Try Tailgating at a weekend baseball game...start a tradition!04-cheers

Good idea!!!! 03-idea

You really need about 4 guys who are committed to get it started.

KISS Principle at first.

Things needed:

1. Grill, Duh...I like the Weber Q 2200 with a stand. If you have a Costco membership they are selling a combo kit for the cheapest price around. If not, Amazon is your friend. I like the optional hose to attach to a 20lbs tank. You can run it off of 1lbs green Coleman propane canisters too. This is your biggest expense but the Weber is great to use at home too.

2. A Pop-Up Canopy...and some weight plates or Sand Bags for the legs. Easiest to Open and close with 4 fairly sober guys. Great for a popup shower or a hot sun. Buy one on sale at Academy, etc...

3. A Clamshell plastic table. WalMart sells a good one.

4. A cooler for Beers and soda.

Grow your tailgate by inviting non-jerks by for a Hot Dog and drink...a few might come back the next homestand.
