Which is understandable and fine. Just not surprising that it caused NFL teams to question him and turn a 2nd-3rd round pick into a 5th (maybe) round pick.

Great to see. I hope he comes in with a chip and tears up the league.

Antonio Gibson ended up doing really well with Washington before he got hurt

He turned Dallas into pudding. Not pudding, soft pudding.

Philly hoping to duplicate that

Philly should be running a lot this year, hopefully KG works himself onto the field. I think he could stick around the league for a long time as a 3rd down back at least.

Nice to see him get picked up.

I happened to catch a little of the first round while driving and the 7th overall pick opted out of this season. He played two seasons so I'd guess Gainwell suffered much more from not getting a second full season than opting out.

But unless they improve their OL, it won't matter.

2nd Round. Bull. He was always a 3-5 by most every assessment by legit professionals. Now I see why you’re disappointed. And 3rd was always if the right team at the right time didn’t have a higher priority.

I agree 2nd round was best case scenario, but 3rd wasn’t unrealistic. Kenny is in the NFL and a millionaire. I’m so happy for him. I’m only saying he could have had a million or so more if he played last year. But there is always the risk of injury or being a bust. It’s like playing deal or no deal. Kenny had either the million dollar case or the one dollar case. He walked with 500k rather than playing and finding out.

It just also cost him a few million.

I am not saying it’s a certainty or that Kenny did this, but some players likely used covid as a convenient excuse to not play. I’m sure NFL teams w ok ant players that want to play.

Didn’t cost him millions. That would have meant he was a 1st round pick and he was never going to be 1st round pick.

By position value expressed as average salary RB is 8th of 11 positions. That means a bunch come out every year and they have a short lifespan.
He has skill and can make some good money starting off but he will have to earn it on the field on Sundays.

https://heavy.com/sports/2019/04/nfl-dra...g-bonuses/

Absolutely cost him at least 1 million

That’s assuming you know he would have improved his rating by coming back. With our line that was not guaranteed.

I hope he has long career and makes a ton of money but most of the critique is a WAG. Fruitless.

I don't have to assume that sitting out has affected his rating and cost him money

By the same token, one can assume he played and then blew out a knee in the second game, out for the rest of the season. What would his draft stock been then? Is he in better shape going where he did in the draft today? At least he is making money. These “what-if” games can go all directions. It is nothing but assumptions.

Read an article that talked about the last few years there were 3-4 kickers drafted where it used to be rare. Movement is toward younger less expensive due to salary cap. Experienced kickers don’t give you the ROI vs salary cap needs.

Not my opinion. Just reporting.

Or his stock could have fell running behind a line that wasn't opening as many holes as it did the year before.

Or, he could have blown out his knee, or got Covid and died like 4 of his relatives. He did what he needed to do to ensure he gets a crack at the NFL.

Absolutely and his stock dropped because of it

Correct. Washington said they did not trade up for a QB because they did not want to give up multiple draft picks. One of the reasons they cited was they need more young draft picks because of the salary cap.

Think of this guy and some of the others in this thread as one person with multiple personalities, because some of them are. Then you don't need to care or react to what they say. lol.

It happens here, you know. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But one bored guy will stir things up with one of his aliases, and then he'll converse or argue with himself....

He might even bring in another of his aliases to support one side or the other.
just saying.

Now....Back to Kenny Gainwell! Congratulations Kenny! Fly like an Eagle!
