This is huge for TXST. The right guy could awaken that sleeping giant.

Congratulations Texas State.

We'll finally get to see if Texas State is this sleeping giant, that was just held down by ol' Lar, is true.

Well the bad news is they are giving an interim tag to a guy that has worked under Teis for 17 years. Also Teis is going to a supporting role for the next year during transition. He doesn't even step down until the end of August and they already decided to give the guy an interim gig for the 21/22 season instead of doing a search. I have my hopes up but feels like the Bobcat Cat Way.

The 1 yr interim guy is weird Given Teis is there through August. Seems like this guy is the hand picked successor they are going to spoon feed the fan base. You could easily start a 4 month national search and have the next guy ready when the time comes.

It is always 2 steps forward and 1 back here. It is good to lose Teis no matter what but it just reeks of same old same old.

. . . or 1 step forward and 2 steps back . . . Now That’s The Bobcat Way.

I was trying to be optimistic but you are probably correct. In this case, hiring a dude that had been under LT for 17 years is a few steps back.

I love that you can still be optimistic . . . Afraid that I’m at the point where any optimism re: our Athletic Program has just been crushed out of me.

Even this “change in AD” is yet another example of Optimism and Hope being kicked to the curb.

For years Bobcat Fans the World over looked forward to the day when Larry would be Canned, or would leave of his own volition. And what did we all want when that day came . . . Why a shiny New AD of course. One who would reverse our fortunes and take us to heights unseen by Bobcats in The Modern Era. And now Larry’s gone (well he will be, at the end of Aug., sort of) and did we get our shiny new AD?

NOOOOOOOO, we get Larry hangin’ around the program for another year, while some “Larry Clone” with an “Interim” Tag gives us more of the same.

There’s a Right Way, a Wrong Way, and the Bobcat Way . . . and it seems IF you follow The Bobcat Way for too Long, you just may end up on Suicide Watch.

Not that I would “harm” myself over Bobcat Athletics . .. I mean, I’m too pretty for that . . . jus’ sayin’

Has to be up from here, congrats. If TXST can get going no doubt we would be nipping at the AAC heals.

Don Coryell - the interim - is on paper already much better than Larry. He has a lot of the things that Larry lacked...he is personable with fans, he attends games and shakes hands and kisses babies, he's well-known around the school and well-liked.

As far as his competency, no one knows yet. It's hard to tell if anyone in that dept is competent right now...but I guess he'll get his chance.

You know what you don’t wanna be? You never want to be “the guy” that follows a Legend.

The Good news for Coryell. .. . . He’s following LT, so the bar’s pretty damn low (a dwarf. . . or is the term “little person” could step over it). So he’s got nowhere to go but Up . .

The other Good News for Coryell, is that after years of LT’s abuse of our Athletic Dept. every freakin’ Bobcat on the planet is pulling for him to succeed.

Gawd make it so . . …
