Dude is taking swipes at Tampa/USF by listing McDonalds as the best BBQ and Olive Garden as the best pizza? For sure 4Rivers (which is based in Winter Park, though we have several in Tampa) should be rightly listed as a UCF place, but there are countless decent BBQ places in Tampa. And for pizza we clearly have plenty of great places (e.g. Cappy's). If this was intended as a service for people when they visit other cities, that's just stupid. If it was intended as just a humorous tongue in cheek thing, it also seems stupid.

My only guess would be that its listing places only in close proximity (almost walkable),so in usf's case temple terrace. Havent validated this theory .

This would be my guess as well - the guy is searching Temple Terrace and not Tampa as a whole.

Pizza Eddies and Sam- NY style pizza
For BBQ- Mission BBQ

But taste is up to individual I went to Dreamland BBQ in Birmingham and honestly wasn’t impressed by it but it’s listed in everyone’s favorite list

Same here with Dreamland. Been twice. Not impressed.
Consistency seems to be an issue with a lot of these places on lists. If you go when they are having an off day well then that's your experience unfortunately. There are a couple of places I have gone to in Atlanta that appear on lists that I have hated. It's why I tend to just fire up my smoker and do my own.

Good BBQ is easy but it does take time an effort and unfortunately I think it's hard to find folks to work in that industry who will have pride in the craft.

Actually, you make a good point. We had a small chain of BBQ places in Las Vegas called "Memphis Championship BBQ". They had three locations. The owner was a guy named Mike Mills who won Memphis in May two or three times. Ironically he was from Illinois. It was legit Memphis BBQ right here in Las Vegas.

During the 90's the food there was off the charts. Not just the ribs. All of it. Then as time went by I started noticing a change in quality. Gradually it went down hill. Last year the last location shut down. Now we've got nothing. Pretty sad.

If youre going into that business and the restaurant business in general, the committment is huge. You are basically going to have to commit 24/7 of your life to maintain the quality of the business. And when you start talking multiple locations, now you need really trusted people to keep the service level and quality up. I was watching a YouTube vlogger in Dallas and he went to two BBQ places. The first place was really indifferent to him walking in with a camera and served him really dry meat although they were a "list' place. I turned to my wife and told her, no way the owners were there. Zero chance. Vloggers are the new restaurant critics. An owner would have made sure to introduce themselves for the free commercial and would have made sure they got the choicest plate of meat. The second place he goes to its the opposite level of customer service and they are bringing him sides to his table and let him film in the smokehouse.

I believe you nailed it!! I think that is exactly what happened here. I'll show you an example of the original place that made them famous to the last hip looking place where things went to ****. Such a shame. The guy was a legend. He passed away 12-29-2020

Interesting read of a four time world champion.

Interesting story from the Chicago Tribune talking about him bringing ribs to Air Force One for Bill Clinton.

Saw's, Full Moon, or Rodney Scott's in Birmingham. Dreamland is severely overrated imo.

Not dry at all. Even the point was falling apart when I sliced it. LOL And.I.Cooked.Mine.

Seriuously though, I did a pork butt about 3 weeks back. I did brisket this week because ) wife is from south Texas 2) I love it amd 3) it was sitting at the bottom of my freezer since last year. The third picture is the point and its swimming in rendered fat.

Regrding our earlier subject, someone that I talk regularly about BBQ told me yesterday that one of the better places in town Pit Boss in Hapeville, has vacated their premises and is now running out of a HD storage shed nearby. Will just say that to my point, his bbq was top notch but his customer service was bad and he was not always there. Its down by the airport and his main clientele was FedEx and Delta employees who really dont have time for crappy service and lines 8 to 10 deep at lunch.

Honestly he nailed Cincinnati. Eli's is great. Adriaticos is great.

Never had Adriaticos but I strongly prefer Lucius Qs and Smoke Justis (NKY i know...) for BBQ.

I can agree with that, although I'm not disappointed by Central - it's a solid place to go, all locations. But yeah, they were at least smart enough to stay away from Rendevzous and even Corky's.

Might have to try this now that I'm in NC and might make a ECU game.
