Jordan Ricks was a DB on the 2014 team (which was also a victim of murder.) He was the player who recorded Tristan Henderson's emotional response to Ray Watts's at the team meeting where the team was killed.

He's being charged in connection to the high speed chase that ended in a fatal car crash on Lakeshore. He is still at large.

Wreck happened on Lakeshore. Also, relating the disbandment of a sports team to the murder of a human being in any way is pretty tasteless.

Jesus guys, lighten up. He wasn't comparing sports to a loss of life. Seems to me he was just trying to give those of us who don't know who this guy was some context. F*cking people these days are so damn sensitive.

But man, that's heart-wrenching to read. Two girls without a mother because of this POS. Hope he never sees the outside once they find him.

For the record. The third definition of the word murder:

3a: to put an end to "He murders the french language daily."

So, was it the best choice of words, no. Was it a wrong use of the word, also no.

"Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me". A lot people just need to fn grow the hell up and stop being offended over every little blessed thing.

I've got a friend in UAB hospital in a coma, that may not live the week, so worrying about the words people choose to use is so minutely trivially that it astounds me how many people can't let things go that really don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I come on here for a few minutes diversion and this is the trivial nonsense, I find. Geez!

Awhile back, I quoted in Bar & Grill an AL.com article (I recall the author was Leada Gore) calling attention to Alabama's ranking as #2 among American states in annual gun violence deaths at over 21 per 100,000 population. Five of the TOP 10 were southern states plus MO and OK. (#1 was Alaska and the opposite end of the scale was MA at just over 3) I don't know where IL -with Chicago and MI with Detroit were ranked but not listed in the Top 10.

Has anyone heard a state politician speak to this problem? Apparently, it is not seen as a problem in this state.

I knew the lady who was killed. She was dads heart transplant coordinator. She was awesome to work with. She was patient and kind even when dad was being an arse.

Thanks for the prayers. Sadly, he did pass away later Wednesday night. He had CF, but the docs don't think that was a factor. It wasn't covid either. They were really puzzled. Went from feeling fine at the beach mid-day Friday, to feeling like he was getting a cold by late afternoon, to being unable to breath and cardiac arrest around 8 on Saturday morning. A friend that was there with him was fortunately an emt and was able to resuscitate him before the paramedics got there, but he just never woke up.

UAB sent one of the air ambulances down Monday night to bring him home...

It just makes no sense. Really young too, graduated from UAB in 2017.

The lady killed is the twin sister to the dentist I use in Gardendale. So sad for all involved.
