Question For our Shocker brethren
What is the temperature of Shocker Nation on the possibility of bringing back football? Has it been discussed lately "around the watercooler", or is it something that is ignored because it has been so long? Has there been any talk like "Hey, we need to get in on 100% share of that new TV deal."

If WSU decided they wanted FB would they have to spend a few years as FCS or are they automatically accepted as AAC full football member ?

Not sure, and the reason I'm not, is the case of UAB. They came back from non-existence directly back to D1-a. Of course that was a minuscule break compared to from 1986-now.

But the point of this thread is not necessarily the legalities of it, but more about the attitude of Hitachi state fans.

It's largely an age thing. If you were old enough to watch 80's shocker football then your 100% against it. The younger folks definitely want it. I am a huge proponent of adding it back but don't think it will happen unless our hand is forced. Right now we get to have our cake and eat it too by being in a P6 without the headache of a football program.

We would need to build a new stadium. Lots of start up costs ... Money MIGHt be there but the previous president really burnt some bridges with big donors.

My guess is it never happens.

?????

This has been a decent conversation, IMO.

I mean, yes, we repetitively ask the same questions, but this is no more repetitive than asking "Temple, how's your 'On Campus Stadium' plans coming..." or "Will the AAC add someone this year?"

The Hitachi mascot would look awesome on a helmet and center field.

RE: Question For our Shocker brethren
Seems to me college football is not a big thing in the whole state of Kansas. Occasionally KSt is competitive but that's it in D1 FB.

RE: Question For our Shocker brethren
Honestly, FCS football at WSU has the chance to be very successful. Currently there is not an FCS program in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and only one super crappy one in Colorado. Kansas is loaded with Juco talent and if you have lower end D1 talent you either need to completely leave the area or opt to play D2 or NAIA. The problem is that Wichita State suffers from little brother syndrome BIG TIME and I highly doubt our big money folks would even consider donating to that. As much as I hate it, that little brother syndrome is what feeds the fan bases hate and keeps the stands full. It's a love/hate thing.

3 months later, when I check on this site again, there you are again proving zero to any discussion.

At least you’re consistent.
