You’re forgiven. News to me. So is it New Halls or New Hall 1 and New Hall 2? :duck:

Sorry....I just find it sad that there still isn’t a “name” after what?....7 years?

Are they just waiting for someone to donate 6 figures? Or is it 7?

"The Ricardo Patton dorm". :duck:

Well, whether you liked him or not. It only seems fitting to name the dorm after Obama. As every other dorm on campus is named after an Illinois politician.

I think either The Blagojevic Building or The Vrdolyak Vista View would be great names for the new dorms.

Seriously though, I think that naming a dorm after President Obama is a great idea.

With all the hanky panky going on in the dorms, wouldn’t it be proper to name it “The Grotto” after DeKalb’s famous historical landmark with the same name?

If they do this, I’ve got dibs on creating the front door sign: WELCOME TO THE GROTTO. YOU CAN COME IN HERE ANYTIME YOU WANT.

I'm proud of everyone for not turning this into some political war.

All of the dorms at NIU are named some famous Illinois politician. The exceptions being Neptune and Gilbert, those were named after prominent faculty members.

Any other thoughts on who we could name New Hall after? Doug "The Thug" Baker hall?

Fast Eddie's name is triggering. I was just an undergrad when he was with us, but now they I am older. I can see how the short sighted decisions of that guy ruined the present/future of our dear community.

How about the Clyde "The Glide" Wingfield wing of an existing dorm? No need to build, just remodel.

Illinois hasn't been a shining star of politicians with integrity.

I would love to add a couple of more names to the good guy list, but i think think that this thread would turn to the taboo area of politics, so I will just leave it as is.

It was more to show exception rather than rule

I forgot about Reagan! He would have to have a dorm named after him before Obama. And you're right, Illinois hasn't exactly been the model for politicians in a long while.

I grew up in the 80s so I always looked at Reagan in a very favorable light but recent revelations has tempered that a good amount. Either way, he was still a President and grew up in Dixon which is like 40 minutes from DeKalb. Hell, it's the reason why I-88 is called "The Reagan".

I 100% think there should be a dorm named after him.

I am all for selling to highest bidder. If someone wants to give NIU a few Million for rights, I am fine with that.
