Chad Dollar to Cincinnati as Assistant Coach Confirmed by Chad Brendel at BCJ

This is a huge get. Chad Dollar has been an assistant for Georgia since 2018, and previously worked under Bruce Pearl at Auburn, Brian Gregory at Georgia Tech and USF, Gregg Marshall at Wichita State, and John Brady at LSU and Arkansas State. Big-time recruiter.

To add, Chad Dollar is the brother of Cameron Dollar (played on the '95 UCLA championship team), a USF alum, and is a coach's son from Atlanta with deep recruiting ties in the south -- especially in talent-rich Georgia. He was one of the recruiters for Anthony Edwards, as well as 4 additional 4-star players at Georgia over the past 3 years.

Hard not to love/be excited about this staff. Miller must have been a great guy to work for. Some of his other coaches moved on to bigger jobs from UNCG but are happy to come back.

Andre Morgan has plenty of experience in a variety of places.
You get Mike Roberts fresh off a stint at Indiana.
You get Chad Dollar who has been a hell of recruiter and has big time, high level assistant experience.

This isn't a typical staff for a guy making the jump from mid major to this kind of position. Hell of a job by Miller.

Seems like a lot of guys who have coached or played for Wes are following him to Cincinnati, and the UNC faithful hold him in the same kind of regard as OSU fans did with Fickell. Mike Roberts was with him for 8 years and only left when a job opened up at his alma mater, Indiana. Morgan worked with Wes as well. Tom Crean doesn't seem like a very likeable guy to me and Chad Dollar was still able to pull big-time talent at Georgia. Just imagine what he'll be able to do on the trail selling recruits on playing for a charismatic, likeable guy like Wes. Coach Miller could have just brought over his current UNCG staff, but he went for it with two of the more experienced guys he's worked with/trusts and a high-level recruiter for his third.

Impressive staff to date. Do we know who the Assoc. HC will be?

Hoping we can add a Bearcat like DeMarr.

My one comment is the staff seems rather southern oriented. That may be good?

Dude must have saw us against his Georgia team last season and thought "wow, they could really use some good coaching."

... Too soon?

Recruiting the mid Atlantic coast south into Atlanta/Georgia is a good thing. Great basketball recruiting in those areas. Plus, Roberts has been a coach at Indiana for years so that gets us a very recent Midwest connection as well.

My guess is Roberts is going to be the Associate HC.

Yeah, I think hitting the south hard is the plan. Georgia and Florida put out a ton of good basketball talent. It makes sense to me, as the amount of high-major basketball players coming out of the tri-state area is somewhat limited, with stiff competition from all the strong basketball programs in the area. Wes and his staff know the south well, and I'm guessing they are confident they can build a good chunk of the roster recruiting SEC territory. Wes seems like a strong relationship builder, so I think he'll quickly acclimate himself with the local powerhouses and get in the mix for guys like Paul McMillan, Evan Mahaffey, and Rayvon Griffith.

I'm guessing Roberts will be the Associate Head Coach, although I don't believe he was announced as such. Some schools don't name an Associate, or maybe wait a year or two into a new coaching staff to determine that, so maybe that could be a possibility.

Roberts also coached at Rice for 4 years and Texas Tech for one, so he might do some recruiting down there. Roberts and Miller both went to the same prep school in New Hampshire as MAW, McGinnis, and Hensley. Miller will definitely hit the NC/VA area hard. I think Morgan and Dollar will tag team the deep south, as there is plenty of talent down there to keep two recruiters busy, and both guys have plenty of connections down there -- especially Dollar, who on paper might be the best recruiter we've had since Stubblefield.

We've had some pretty good luck in recent years with guys from the deep south and Wes Miller's neck of the woods. Tre Scott (GA), Jacob Evans (LA), Gary Clark (NC), and Troy Caupain (VA) all come to mind.

Bob Huggins and his staff recruited alot out of georgia. Georgia has produced a lot of basketball talent over the years.

This says he was Georgia's top recruiter and got the dude that was the #1 pick a couple of years ago. That's uh, not bad.

I find it highly encouraging that we are stealing assistant coaches from Indiana and Georgia. At least on paper.

I was never sure who was the recruiter on Brannen's staff--maybe he did it himself as I never read or heard about relationships between players or recruits with his assistants.

I'm not looking back; this is only to say it appears we've had a substantial upgrade with the assistants.

When he was hired I believe he made a run at the top recruiter at an SEC school; maybe Alabama since he had the connection there. Didn't get him. I don't think he had a good enough staff to succeed here but we'll never know since he was fired for other reasons. Wes Miller's staff can't be considered anything other than a home run between getting a big timer recruiter plus an associate HC with experience with Miller and in this region.

I’m curious how we got a guy to leave an SEC school? I know it’s not a basketball powerhouse, but any idea? Please post if it’s not inside information from bearcat journal. He must have some past relationship with Miller?

Big salary upgrade? Wasn’t Cameron dollar from California? Would love some contacts in California.

I was never sure who the guys on Brannen’s staff were. I assumed the three cutouts behind him during games doing see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil...

Go check out a georgia basketball forum. Word is that Tom Crean is fairly comparable in terms of likeability and relationship building to John Brannen. But Georgia doesn't want to pay his buyout and doesn't have the for cause route, so they are stuck with him another year.
