Athletic: ...Tiers of Power 6 college basketball coaching hires for 2021
https://theathletic.com/2517300/?source=twittered
Quote:Tier 2
Wes Miller, Cincinnati: A surprise candidate in the sense that more or less no one expected Miller to be interested. But Cincinnati hired a guy who executed a complete rebuild over a decade at UNC Greensboro and took that program to two of the last three NCAA Tournaments that have been played … and who still won’t turn 40 until 2023. Miller would’ve been a viable hire at multiple Power 6 programs, including his alma mater, North Carolina, and the Bearcats got him. He’s not an alum or the guy Bob Huggins stumped for, but his go-go enthusiasm can win people over and compensate. Stylistically, Miller probably can coach to what he knows — suffocating length-of-floor defense — in the AAC. Miller’s combo of exuberance and experience gives Cincinnati the best of everything it needed.
Only Tier 1 hire was Chris Beard to Texas.
I say this because The Athletic had this as a Power 6 hire. Now, granted, they also had Shaka Smart to Marquette in Tier 2, meaning that there would almost have to be a Power 7, but I thought it was notable given a certain someone (or two) constantly trying to convince us that the AAC is not in that top level of basketball conferences...

P6 is working. The very fact that it appears in print means that it is already imprinted in the mind.

The Athletic is well worth the $1 per month it costs. Not sure if that's always the price, but that's the price I seem to be locked into. Way better than ESPN or most of the other big sports media websites. And if they've acclimated to the fact that we are a P6 conference, I love them even more.
