Agreed. Although, past generations didn’t seem to have that problem.

For about half (less? more?) of the people in this country, all the Bad Things they hear about or read about only seem to exist online or in media. It doesn’t require any careful thought or reflection on their part, unless and until some of those Bad Things reach out and touch them, personally, and leave bad bruises in their own life. That seems to be the only way to get their attention. Until that changes, all the political effort in the world is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, for all the good it will do.

Double edged sword. IMO, for most folks on the periphery, "getting their attention" by being a nuisance too close to home will not help a cause, it will only piss off those that may have been sympathetic to begin with. Once you lose those folks, they aren't coming back.
