82% Think U.S. Is Divided, Despite Biden*s Promise to Be a More Unifying President
Quote:The vast majority of U.S. adults still believe the country is divided, despite President Joe Biden’s vow to be a more unifying president, an NBC News poll released Sunday revealed.

The poll, released on the cusp of Biden’s first 100 days in office, revealed just more than a third, or 36 percent, say the country is headed in the “right direction.” Meanwhile, the vast majority of respondents, 82 percent, believe the country is divided.

This comes amid Biden’s vow to unify the country with his presidency, making the theme central to his inaugural address in January.

“To overcome these challenges — to restore the soul and to secure the future of America — requires more than words. It requires the most elusive of things in a democracy: unity. Unity,” Biden said during his January 20 address.

Biden told the country his “whole soul” was “in this,” wholly devoted to “bringing America together,” “uniting our people,” and “uniting our nation.”

“Uniting to fight the common foes we face: anger, resentment, hatred. Extremism, lawlessness, violence. Disease, joblessness, hopelessness.

Biden continued:

With unity we can do great things. Important things. We can right wrongs. We can put people to work in good jobs. We can teach our children in safe schools. We can overcome this deadly virus. We can reward work, rebuild the middle class and make healthcare secure for all.

We can deliver racial justice. We can make America, once again, the leading force for good in the world.

I know speaking of unity can sound to some like a foolish fantasy. I know the forces that divide us are deep and they are real. But I also know they are not new. Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we are all created equal and the harsh, ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear and demonization have long torn us apart.

Notably, despite his call for unity, Biden demonized his fellow Americans in the same speech in which he lamented what he described as “the rise of political extremism, white supremacy, [and] domestic terrorism.”

The 78-year-old president has failed to demonstrate unity in a variety of ways, even before taking office, as Breitbart News’s Joel Pollak extensively detailed.

Biden’s term began with a second, divisive impeachment effort against former President Trump. All the while, he has seemingly continued to support “cancel culture” as members of the far-left continue to fan the flames of racial division. More recently, Biden failed to demonstrate unity after slamming states, particularly Georgia, for pursuing basic election integrity laws, calling them “un-American” and “sick” and likening them to the Jim Crow era.

The survey, taken April 17-20 among 1,000 adults, has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percent.

The Harris/Obiden regime doesn't intend to unite the country. They have created all the things that split us apart....anger, resentment, hatred, extremism, lawlessness, violence, disease, joblessness, hopelessness and illegal immigration. Their rhetoric inflames the division as much as their policies, and the dictatorial executive orders.

Biden't biggest mistake was to say he was going to be a "Uniter".

That just gives the Republicans the signal to do the opposite.

What he should have done is simply say he will not work with them on anything.

In other words, he should have simply told the truth. Biden claimed to be a centrist uniter---and instead has won the applause of AOC and the squad for making a hard turn left to become the most left wing progressive president in history. His policies so far are waaaaaaaay to the left of Obama.

Biden has proposed radically left wing ideas---court packing, Senate packing (thats all statehood for DC and PR is about), and elimination of the filibuster. Thats not centrist. Thats not uniting. The man has no soul, no hallowed ground upon which he stands strong, and likely little cognitive function. I honestly am unsure whether he is this blatantly dishonest, divisive, and socialist--or if he simply has so little left on the ball he is just a puppet front man for a group of very progressive/communist power hungry handlers.

I'm thinking it would be that number no matter if Mr. Rodgers was President. RIP

So in your brilliance you have come up with the thought that Biden* should have told the truth. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao He was born a liar and plagiarist and has demonstrated that fact over 50 years. The only ones yet to figure that out are you idiots.

RE: 82% Think U.S. Is Divided, Despite Biden*s Promise to Be a More Unifying President
This is all very simple. Until there’s a political motivation for either side to move to the center there will be no movement to the center.

The people on the right are penalized politically for working with the Democrats; and the people on the left are penalized politically for working with the Republicans.

So, why should they work with each other?

Also, when they act defiantly towards the other side, they are rewarded for it!

Similarly, there is no scandal that is punishable right now by your own base. Everyone wants to clean up corruption but only the other side’s corruption. Their side’s corruption is just fine.

Cuomo Has been credibly accused of some really terrible behavior towards women. He’s been criticized by people on his side but he still in power and he’s not leaving. The same is true of Gaetz on the other side. However, on the right, they’re not even criticizing that goof. They’re either staying quiet or they’re outright defending him. I don’t know why on earth they’re doing that but that is the tact many have chosen.

The former president was literally caught on tape bragging about grabbing women by their pu$$ies. Who cared? Only the people on the left as well as those who have not had their morals corrupted by partisan politics. Biden will eventually do something similarly ridiculous and the only people care will be the folks on the right and the honest people on the left. Everyone else will shrug their shoulders because that is the political tone of the era in which we now live.

When doing the right thing only applies to the other side, there’s nothing to unite.

Where does it end? I don’t know? I would’ve thought we would’ve figured this out by now. Alas, somewhat remarkably the chasm keeps growing. Instead of working towards our common ground and what we can do to lessen the divide, we still have moron after moron talking about - and many openly longing for — another Civil War.

How do you reason with that level of idiocy? You don’t. You have to marginalize them.

It would be mind boggling if we were dealing with normal people.

Biden has done absolutely nothing to be a uniter. Democrats' idea of compromise is, "We get our way and you go along." True compromise is, "We get something we want, and in return we give you something you want." What has Biden offered republicans?
