That’s an interesting turn of events for ACU sports. On the plus side Ward has helped move basketball front and center during his rather brief tenure. On the negative side of the ledger, he never connected with the donor base. He’s basically let the Wildcat Club made up of small and medium donors fall apart.

Extension for Tarleton's AD.

==
STEPHENVILLE – The longest tenured athletic director in Tarleton State University history is set to continue leading the department through its transition to NCAA Division I.

After a successful first year of transition, Lonn Reisman, the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, has earned a two-year contract extension through July 2023.

"I'm grateful to Tarleton President Dr. James Hurley for the opportunity to continue to lead this department into NCAA Division I," said Reisman. "We have made a lot of changes and passed our first year of NCAA transition. I'm looking forward to continuing the efforts in leading Tarleton State University to the highest level for our students, fans, student-athletes, alumni, and all the supporters of Texan Athletics."

This isn't the first time Reisman has led Tarleton to new heights. After taking over as athletic director in 1993, Tarleton made the move to NCAA Division II from NAIA in 1994. Reisman is currently in his 28th year as the athletic director and fourth year in the singular role after spending his first 24 years also serving as the head basketball coach. He was named the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics in the fall of 2019.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Following a nationwide search for the next head coach of its cross country and track & field teams, NM State needed only to look within its own program to find the right man for the job.

Monday afternoon, NM State Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced Joseph Rath has been selected as the next head coach of the Aggies' women's track & field and men's and women's cross country teams.

"As we did when we hired 2020 WAC Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year Doug Reynolds, our committee was aggressive in recruiting nationally for this head coaching position," commented Moccia. "We contacted well over 100 coaches and had a very robust pool of finalists. After the process was complete, I believed that Joseph Rath was the best person to continue our upward trajectory in track & field as well as cross country. He has been a big part of our recent championship success and I believe he has the proper blueprint in order to be successful in Las Cruces, N.M."

A fixture on the Aggies' coaching staff for over a half-decade, Rath takes the reins of NM State's entire cross country and track & field operation after serving as an assistant coach for the program since the start of the 2016-17 academic year.

Dear ACU Community,

You’re invited to join us Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Hunter Welcome Center for a press conference introducing ACU’s new vice president for athletics. If you can’t attend in person, you can view a livestream of the event. We’re excited to welcome this new campus leader and begin the next chapter in ACU athletics.

Go Wildcats!

Phil Schubert, Ed.D.
President

The rumor is the hire will likely be an individual with no previous ties to ACU and currently serving as Deputy AD at a school in the PAC.

Missed this yesterday.

Abilene Christian is making a change atop their volleyball program. They are also still in the search for a head football coach
