These kids he's recruited and knows them and how they fit together. There has to be a blend of familiarity/continuity with the UC returnees and kids that he feels can raise their floor/ceiling in the next several years. That said, how many roster spots do we still have open?

Agreed. And the two recent commits were both freshman on a very experienced roster. With Banks on scholarship, we have two remaining. With a solid core established, Miller can now pursue the a final impact player. Well done so far.

There is pretty much a zero percent chance Banks remains on scholarship for next season unless we just have a scholarship to burn. The second a 6'9 guy is willing to come here he's back to paying his own way, which is fine. I'm sure it was explained to him what the situation would be when he got it and he got a free year/semester of tuition.
