I actually think its refreshing to see our coach using the portal to bring talent into WMU. Far too little of that the last several years.

Transfers are now huge part of NCAA sports

Besides the recent MSU basketball departures,
Since November 2020 MSU Football has had 25 players enter Transfer Portal according to mlive.

20% of every D1 player is in the portal. Trying to hang that on our coach is just ignorant. The team showed vast improvement and the 2 most recent transfers will make a huge impact. I know Coach Bates personally and he is a stand up guy and loves WMU. He will do whatever it takes to make the program successful. He deserves 4 years to make the team his own.

I think Bates has done a really nice job. I also think that if Saddi has any interest in the job whatsoever I'm willing to give him one of my kidneys just to hang onto in case he ever needs it.
