He doesn't seem to have any Michigan recruiting roots.

Thanks.

We've heard multiple explanations including a ban on outside hires.

And yes, I can see why WMU would clamp down on spending very early in the Covid pandemic last spring.

Bates signed a two year heavily discounted contract, an indication that WMU just hit the pause button until the Covid dust settles. Bronc I would not be at all surprised if Saddi is your coach after this season.

That's right. Who can forget that storybook season at UTEP when he was national coach of the year! He is going to crush it in Mt Pleassant!

Wow. Saddi Washington???

Saddi presumably makes big $ at UofM.

Wonder if we are talking 500 - 600K as HC???
If they get Saddi Washington they'll have realistically beat us on two coaches! Todd Simon is also a winner! Mann on paper is the worst, but not terrible! Big dollars for Saddi for sure!

I don't even know if Saddi APPLIED for the EMU job. I note that Stephens may strike out three times being an instate MAC coach. I also note the Ferris St coach isn't even mentioned for our job OR the CMU job. Lastly it was reported that Stan got a $400k deal for 5 years, however a more recent Detroit News article mentions $325k for 5 years. Murphy got $350k per year. Getting Stan for $325k is the steal of the year. One must weigh on factors on hiring a coach including affordibility. I am sure CMU donors will dig into their pockets to hire a coach. Frankly the Keno deal was not a smart one.

Lot of good points;

1). Saddi might have known that salary wise UofM > EMU. Would have made no sense to apply for a job which (obviously) doesn't meet salary requirements. Our thoughts might have been that EMU could pony us some 'supplemental' monies. Guess that didn't happen.

2). Ferris State coach, Bronk. Other than this forum, which sometimes produces head scratchers*, Bronk hasn't been mentioned in any D-I HC search I know of. (CMU/EMU/WMU).

3). As we have been discussing, Heath was HC in the G-League, not an asst coach at UofM or MSU. Washington and Stephens probably make a good bit more than Heath did. Our good fortune.

4). Who will be the next CMU HC? Who knows. CMU always seems to find an extra 100K or 200K when needed to 'make it happen.'

5). Who will be the new WMU HC in 2022? (does Washington get the CMU job?). If not, the EMU Steve draft kinkos sports book has Saddi even money next spring to be WMU's 2022/3 HC.
This one is lining up perfectly for him. Fate delayed it. Otherwise, it would have been Washington in spring 2020.

6). I hope for Stephens sake he did not wait TOO LONG. Will he be next MSU HC or end up being a career asst coach? The fates, not me, knows the answer.

* Worst of the worst. Think it was Bob (I luv alums) W who was peddling the name of fmr. EMU player, John Banaszak. Very good player. NFL player. Dud as a FCS coach (Robert Morris). Terrible record in the NEC.

Wrong!!!! I wanted Ron Adams. Ken Barna wanted the venerable Banaszak.
